Muay Thai courses in Thailand. Fun Muay Thai training - Thai boxing on vacation

Thai boxing is national species sports of Thailand. This is the best place to learn this ancient martial art. Pattaya offers tourists a wide range of schools where they can undergo training, and also allows them to fully enjoy the professional fights that take place in the city regularly.

Muay Thai is the second name Thai boxing. Origins martial art lie in ancient times, the history of Thai boxing goes back more than two thousand years. In Thailand, Muay Thai became known back in the 16th century, and in the 20th century it spread throughout the planet.

Initially, Muay Thai was a very brutal sport: the loser was carried out of the ring either dead or beaten. Now the rules have relaxed. Previously, Thai boxing was just a way to get out of poverty and earn a living, now it is a prestigious and elite sport, which Thai boys are enrolled in as early as five years old.

Now about 130 thousand people practice Thai boxing in their homeland, of which only 10 thousand are professionals. And this is not counting military personnel and workers law enforcement: They have Thai boxing included in their compulsory training program.

The traditions of Muay Thai are also very interesting: for example, prayer and ritual dance that precede each fight. The fighters also have special prajata and mongkon amulets that carry sacred meaning. The fight itself always takes place to the accompaniment of ritual music, and the fighters observe a special code of honor that requires respect for their opponent.

Kombat Group

After watching films with Badyuk, I decided to go to train in Thailand, namely Pattaya. I will try to write a summary of the trip at the end of the article.
So let's go, training camps in Pattaya:
1) Sityodtong International boxing camp

Many foreigners practice Muay Thai in this camp.
Cost 5000 rubles per month - 2 classes per day.
Pros:
1) Many foreigners (Holland, Germany, France)
2) Cheap housing rental (the camp is located far from the city)
3) Authentic atmosphere, as if you came to practice Shaolin.
Minuses:
1) Muay Thai only
2) Very far from the center of Pattaya, there is nowhere to walk in the evening, the sea is very far away.

2) Twin Tiger Muay Tay

Pros:
1) In the center of Pattaya
2) Ideal for those who are traveling for a week or two and want to hang out and work out.
3) Opposite the camp, apartments are rented for 5,000 rubles per month with air conditioning.
4) The center can be reached on foot.
5) Relatively close to the beaches and pier.
6) There is a gym nearby.
7) Nearby are clubs and bars.

Minuses:
1) The gym is suitable for those for whom it is important to keep themselves in good shape. I’m not sure that it will suit those people who are going to improve their knowledge in Muay Thai.
2) The hall is small

3) Kombat Pattaya Group
A widely known Russian-language Thai boxing camp in Thailand, in terms of the information component I would compare it with Simba in Phuket.

Pros:
1) Russian-speaking
2) There is boxing, wrestling, Thai boxing, mma.
3) Perfect for getting in shape before a competition or for losing weight.
4) The guys take their training very seriously, they have good coaches.
5) Own equipment store, there is a bar with protein shakes.
Minuses:
1) Very far from the center of Pattaya
2) If you stay near the camp, you need to take a scooter, otherwise you won’t be able to get to the center.
3) Prices are slightly higher than market prices.

4) Fairtex camp & hotel
Good for a family holiday, located 5 minutes from the center if you plan comfortable stay with my wife + daily training, then this camp is it.

Pros:
1) Almost in the city center.
2) Very comfortable high level, great rooms, big pool, good crowd.
3) Excellent coaching staff.

Minuses:
1) Expensive, classes + accommodation will cost much more than in previous camps.

5) Pectroungruang pattaya
Located on Sukhumvit Road. You can get there from the center, it’s a bit far, but not as far as in Sityodtong.

Pros:
1) Within the city
2) Mainly Thais are involved.
3) Nearby is the Muay Thai stadium, where you can watch the performances of the team and the coaching staff
4) Cheap, a month costs 4,000 with a fitness room, nearby you can rent an apartment for a month for 5,000 thousand and take a tuktuk to the center in the evening. In total, with food, you can keep it at 20,000 thousand.

Minuses:
No pool, very ascetic.

As a summary:
If you do MMA or karate or Muay Thai, then it’s worth going to Pattaya. The trainers will set their feet well. The hands of the Thais are very mediocre, the blows are not strong and not biting. Boxers have nothing to do there. Before performances and for mma classes, it is better to go to the battalion commander. If you want to relax and not lose your shape, go to Fairtex. If you want to retreat into yourself and get psychologically ready for something, go to Sityodtong.
Adviсe:
1) Don’t take your equipment with you - buy it there, better quality and cheaper.
2) If you are planning to go, keep in mind that for AT LEAST a week you will get used to 40 degree heat. Try running in the sauna.
3) It’s worth going for at least two weeks; if it’s less, then you won’t get any proper training and won’t see the country.

Friends, I’m glad to see you all again on my blog! Finally, I got around to posting a report about my visit to Thailand, Koh Samui. This trip was non-standard for me: I gave myself a kind of challenge and went to study at a Thai boxing school.

I make many decisions based on the “here and now” principle, and this was no exception - the decision was made in one day. Looking ahead, I’ll say that it was painful in places :) Especially considering that I had never practiced Muay Thai before. But this trip really gave me valuable life experience and my views changed in many ways. This report is a continuation of the series of photo and video reports of my

In addition to the photo report, I also recorded 2 videos:

Review of Thailand, where I share my experience in the country and give practical advice. The video is about 30 minutes long, but I recommend stocking up on popcorn and watching it to the end - especially if you've never been to Thailand but are planning on visiting!

A short video review of my home, where I lived for a month.

Well, below I present to your attention a photo report - Thailand through the eyes not of a tourist, but of a savage :)
To begin with, the island of Koh Samui itself, I lived 10 minutes from Chaweng Beach:

If you come to Koh Samui by ferry, then the first thing you see at Nathon Pier is a bunch of minibuses that are ready to take you to any part of the island, as well as prepared pickup trucks for excursions:

I took a photo of the price tags - in case you get ready (the exchange rate at the time of the article is 1 baht = 1.7 rubles)

Upon arrival, I immediately went to the Thai boxing school, where I was greeted very friendly :)

The next day was Sunday and there were no training sessions that day, so we decided to devote this day to a trip around the island:

Along the way we stopped to visit friends :)

Well, in the evening there was a truly masterful dinner - a bowl of Tom Yam soup and a bowl of rice :) By the way, throughout the whole month my diet was approximately the same, which allowed me to lose extra pounds...

Well, then workdays began: 2 training sessions a day (1 training session at 8.00 in the morning, the second at 16.00 in the evening), 6 days a week. The first 2 weeks I quietly crawled to my house and I simply passed out - even during the day I tried to snatch at least a couple of hours to sleep. Then I more or less got into it, but I barely had enough strength to push myself until the end of the second training session...

Well, this is my friend Mark from sunny Zimbabwe, who trained with me at school. Since he spoke only English, and only I had fluent English at school, he and I quickly found a common language - for me it was an extra month of practice! Mark has some kind of business in his homeland, which also allows him to have passive income, so he has been traveling around Asia for 3 years, playing sports and living for his own pleasure!

After training, we often went to the market to buy fruit and prepared various cocktails - of course, both the taste and the cost of fruit in Thailand are completely different... The only thing that bothered me was the bananas - they are very similar to the facehugger from the movie "Aliens" :)

In general, since I didn’t have a kitchen, I ate at a local cafe, but in the camp there were guys who lived in a house without any amenities and they cooked on a grill or boiled breasts in a kettle (this is what I understand - downshifting!) Several times we went to another market (for locals) and bought fish and herbs there:

Crimean onion - feel at home :)

In the mornings, almost every day, I was greeted by this furry miracle on the porch:

And this is the neighborhood where I lived:

In general, Thailand is a country of contrasts:
You can just walk down the street and suddenly bump into a Husky - who would have thought of bringing her to Tai?

About 2 weeks later we went to the beach to sunbathe on our day off and then I (attention!) drank one bottle of 0.33 beer! By the way, during my entire month-long stay I allowed myself 7 bottles, 3 of which I drank on New Year's Day!

So I passed by this department, but sometimes I sighed internally :)

By the way, speaking of alcohol: in Thailand you can find almost everything you want! I came across Jack Daniels, immediately remembered Max Vipreferal, Max - a personal photo for you :)

Throughout the month my workplace looked like this:

About a couple of weeks into my stay, it started to rain and everything started to flood and wash away a little:

One day the bridge simply washed away and I had to take a detour to get to school:

In the video, I said that once on the road I met such a beautiful scorpion, here he is in person:

And after jogging along the beach, I went to a cafe to have breakfast and met another friend: he hissed terribly, maybe this is how they express sympathy?

As I already said in the video (and may the bikers forgive me), I believe that everything between my legs is not transport, so I rented a Toyota Yaris, which faithfully drove me around the island and allowed me to move around comfortably time of heavy rains. At this moment I especially felt sorry for the people on mopeds.

By the way, regarding mopeds: I argued with one person who lives there with his wife that a bike is much more dangerous than a car (an eternal topic of argument). To which I was told that this was all my fear of the bike and my prejudices. Literally 2 days later he called me and asked me to tell him the date of my departure so that he could rent the car that I drove. In response to my question “what happened,” he sent me these photos. And it was his wife who fell successfully, without fractures or concussions... Reason: her wheel hit the gravel on the road and did not have time to react. Do you still want to ride a moped in Thailand?

In general, safety is a priority for Thais, as can be seen from the photo below. Well, it’s okay - if these fall out, we’ll get some more :)

Somewhere after a week of incessant rains, the Muay Thai school was completely flooded and we decided to just go to the gym - fortunately it was on a mountain and the water didn’t reach it!

We accidentally found a road cafe and almost every day, after classes, we went there for dinner. 5 chicken kebabs and a bowl of rice cost me 1.5 dollars! I have never eaten such delicious chicken anywhere else!

One day I came to run on the beach and it turned out that on that day all of Europe celebrated Christmas! And they also say that Russians start drinking early on vacation!

By the way, I usually ended my run like this:

At the end of December, two of my sports motivators decided to go to Vietnam - work there is easier. By the way, the guys left Ukraine as soon as the events on the Maidan began and never returned. I will definitely meet them again somewhere in our vast world!

The New Year passed smoothly, without fanaticism: at 3 o’clock in the morning I was already at home, but the next day I woke up with an almost crystal clear head and went to the beach for breakfast :)

Since it rained almost every day, my friend Mark and I kept postponing a trip around the island, but since he was soon going to leave for Phuket, we still chose a relatively rainy day and decided to go around the entire island:

We climbed into the mountains, where, as they say, there was a beautiful view, but the fog ruined everything...

If I were planning to return to Koh Samui, I would definitely rent one of these houses on the mountain - the view is simply gorgeous!

It's time to say goodbye to my friend, the Aryan Mark, a lover of big Thai women:) By the way, we keep in touch with him from time to time, he is still in Thailand, now preparing for Muay Thai performances.

I still had about 12 days left on the island, so I continued to get in shape. One day I went jogging to the beach in the morning and my flip-flops and T-shirt were stolen (no, they call it changing the owner). But this did not spoil my mood and I drove home, singing “hands up” songs and then the police paid attention to me:

They stopped me and asked if I was okay. I said that everything was fine, but only on the beach my things were stolen. The policeman smiled and said exactly as I wrote - they just changed the owner :). They wished me a good rest and I moved on. They didn’t ask for any documents, they didn’t even get my license!

The last day of departure has arrived. I decided to have a farewell dinner at Geko Bar (the place where I filmed my first video). This has become my favorite place on the island. Those of you who come to this island simply must visit it!

The latest freshly caught fish - purchased and cooked to order...

And the final photo with the coach who honestly pushed me all this month :)

This is how exciting the journey turned out to be. Of course, the weather spoiled the impression, but I went there to play sports, so to some extent the weather even helped me not to be distracted by anything :) I decided for myself that I would definitely return to Thailand to live, but it would definitely be Phuket. By the way, there is one of the most popular Thai boxing schools - Tiger: this is a whole camp with nine rings, gym, food, etc. So next time I plan to go there.
I organized this trip exclusively with the money I earned from investing on the Internet (it was my fundamental decision to “feel” this money). Thai boxing is popular among tourists and residents of Thailand. Of course, not everyone will become a professional, but you will never forget this unique experience. Ready to try?

This section is based on five years of observations of the training of famous Thai boxers in Thailand camps. Here is a generalized analysis of the training of leading Muay Thai masters.
Thai boxers train in special camps, of which there are about two thousand in Bangkok alone. The camp is a small complex consisting of an area under a canopy directly for training, rooms where the boxers live, and often the manager’s house.
Each camp has from one to four rings, 2-6 bulk bags, bulk and pneumatic bags, and stretch balls. By American and European standards, the camps look rather poor, but there are sufficient quantities of boxing gloves, masks, and paws. There are usually 12-18 boxers training in the camp, with 1-3 coaches and 5-6 assistants. Thus, the classes outwardly look like group classes, but in reality there is constant individual work with each athlete. Boxers get up at 6 o'clock in the morning, have breakfast, and at 9 o'clock the first training begins. A large number of The time of this training is, as they say in boxing, “work on the road.” While working on the road, a boxer usually runs 5-8 kilometers at varying intensity. Despite the hot climate, boxers run around dressed in tracksuits. This is followed by short work on the paws and bag.
In some camps, boxers start training at 6 am. Jogging, shadow boxing and some special exercises last up to 7 hours.
The second training starts at 3 pm. Boxers usually do a run that lasts 15-30 minutes. Training at the camp begins with jumping rope or on truck tires. 10-15 minutes are allotted for jumping. What follows is shadowboxing. It is carried out in a unique way, unusual for athletes involved in ordinary English boxing. Boxers move in a free area at a low pace and deliver various punches rather sluggishly. By the way, the boxers training right there, performing according to the rules of English boxing, conduct the usual shadow boxing in the ring, imagining an imaginary opponent. Shadowboxing lasts 3 rounds of 3-4 minutes.
Then the technique begins to be practiced on the paws. When working with pads, the trainer or assistant simulates various strikes, forcing the boxer to use different defenses and counterattacks. Paw work lasts 3-4 rounds.
Usually three times a week there are practice fights in training. During them, boxers are used only. Athletes box with 12-16 ounce gloves and very closed masks. The training fight is going on in full force, because if the boxer does not spar at full strength, he, according to the Thais, will have. A training fight usually lasts 2-4 rounds.
After mitt work or combat training, bag work lasts 3 to 5 rounds. Boxers use other equipment (punching bags, stretch balls, wall pillows) individually and in a small volume.
When working in pairs, which usually lasts 2 rounds, boxers easily strike, often with their legs, which are not protected at all by protectors. The essence of such a battle is to use the correct defense and carry out a counterattack. The more variety and originality in the actions used, the better. The last 2-4 rounds of training are devoted to clinch fighting. Boxers easily throw knee strikes at each other, the main focus is on throwing the partner off balance, using the best grips, and striking with knees at a time when the partner is not ready to defend himself.
The training ends with exercises to develop the neck and abdominal muscles.
In between rounds, boxers drink clean water to regulate the water-salt regime and restore the boxer’s strength to a certain extent. Trainings are carried out within the boundaries of their weight category. because a boxer, finding himself in the conditions of a competitive fight, calmly withstands high loads.
*Weight loss has a negative effect on the body's performance.
Thus, this article examines five years of observation of the training of famous Thai boxers from leading Muay Thai camps in Thailand. Despite the insufficient equipment of the gyms and financing only at its own expense, Thailand remains the mecca of world Muay Thai and the leader of Thai boxing throughout the world.
