Skate size 8. How to choose skates for a child based on size and other characteristics - practical advice

SIZE CHARTS FOR HOCKEY SKATES

The tables below show the sizes of skates from leading manufacturers according to US shoe sizes or according to foot size in centimeters. But you need to take into account the fact that these tables do not give a clear picture and 100% guarantee that this or that size will suit a certain type of leg. Manufacturers of hockey skates, unfortunately, do not indicate the width of the boot, and this is an important criterion in choosing the appropriate size of hockey skates. These tables only provide a starting point in finding the appropriate hockey skate size.

CCM and Reebok hockey skate sizes are typically 1.5 sizes smaller than US shoe sizes. For example, if you are a US size 8.0, then more than likely you will need a size 6.5 CCM or Reebok skate. For SSM skate models produced since 2013, the recommended2 sizes smaller than US shoe size. Starting from 2016, the size of CCM hockey skates is 1.5 sizes smaller.

RChildren's Bauer skates are typically 1 size smaller than US shoe sizes. For example, if your shoe size is US 3.0, your Bauer skate size will be. In this case, the recommendation is appropriate for selecting skates “true to size,” that is, without a margin, so you should choose a hockey skate size that will be at least ½ smaller than the shoe size, and in some cases equal to it. Also, the size table does not make it possible to select the fullness (width) of a hockey boot.

HOCKEY BIB SIZES FOR AND

For the right choice For the size of a hockey bib, follow the recommendations of the Hockey Equipment online store:

· determine the chest circumference at its widest part, and select the appropriate bib size in the table

· The player's height plays a secondary role when choosing the size of a hockey bib; the primary size is the player's chest circumference

· Pay close attention to how the hockey bib sits on the body; the player should not experience restrictions in movement, raise both arms up and make sure that the shoulder cups of the hockey bib do not create discomfort and do not rest against the neck.

Rules for fitting and selecting hockey skates

  • The size of hockey skates is usually 1 - 1.5 sizes smaller than regular shoes. Having determined the size using a special ruler, if possible, try on skates half a size smaller, because... The skate boot should fit as tightly as possible. Put on your skate, vigorously move your foot back, and lace up your boot. If the heel moves freely and does not press firmly into the heel, try on a smaller skate or one with less fullness. Get up and walk around for 5-10 minutes. In a properly sized boot, your foot should not roll forward or move from side to side. The boot should “sit” tightly on the foot, without causing discomfort; the toes should only lightly touch the inside of the toe of the boot, but not press or interfere. Fulfillment of these conditions means that the size is chosen absolutely correctly.
  • The size of children's skates is selected taking into account the growth of the foot during the season by a maximum of 1 size.

ATTENTION: By virtue of design features sizes of amateur and professional skates GRAF, CSM, RBK, BAUER, NIKE and EASTON may vary slightly

ATTENTION: Despite the fact that all data in the tables is taken from official catalogs of manufacturers, they should still be taken only as recommendations and do not guarantee an ideal fit of hockey skates. Please check your skate size before ordering!

When trying on hockey skates, first of all, make sure that they are the right length for you. To do this, move your foot back as much as possible, so that the heel is pressed tightly against the heel of the skate, while your toes should touch the toe of the boot, but under no circumstances rest against it.

The sizes of children's skates can be: larger size, taking into account the height of the foot (? size - equivalent to the thickness of one finger between the heel of the foot and the heel of the shoe. Move the foot forward and measure the distance). But you shouldn’t buy your child hockey skates a whole size larger (maximum one size!) This will interfere with the beginning hockey player’s ability to learn to skate, and in addition, it can lead to leg or ankle injuries.

How to determine skate size

Determining shoe size

1. Place both feet (in socks) on a sheet of paper and trace with a pencil (you can also measure the insole of the shoes you are wearing)

2. Measure the distance from your heel to your big toe.

3. If the lengths for the right and left legs are different, choose the longest one.

COMPLETENESS OF LEGS

For skates there is D(R) - a narrow foot (often used by professionals), EE (W) - a fuller foot (for most amateurs, also mainly for Russia).

FOOTWEAR NUMBERING SYSTEMS

In Ukraine(CIS countries) the shoe number is the size of the foot, measured in millimeters, excluding decorative allowances for lasts, warm socks, and other things. Foot length is measured from the most protruding point of the heel to the most protruding toe.

In the French system The shoe size is the length of the insole. The unit of measurement is the stroke, which is equal to 2/3 of a centimeter. The length of the insole is usually longer than the length of the foot by the so-called decorative allowance, which can be from 0 to 15 mm in length, which introduces some confusion in the translation from one numbering system to another. Today it is accepted as 10 mm.

English system - inch (1 inch equals 2.54 cm). Size zero is four inches from the heel curve of the insole, that is, the standard size of a newborn's foot, and the numbering goes through 1/3 of an inch from 0 to number 13, and then again from 1 to 13.

American system similar to the English one, but compared to it it is shifted to zero by 1/12 inch (2.1 mm). Thus, in the English and American systems there are pairs of the same sizes.

  • Determine your size using a special ruler (this service is available in our store, contact the operators at 8-(812)-992-84-60) if possible, try on skates 0.5 sizes smaller, because The skate boot needs to fit tightly. Put your skate on, moving your foot back, then lace up your boot. If the heel does not press tightly against the heel and moves freely, then you need to try on a skate of less fullness or a smaller size. Walk around in them for 5-10 minutes. If you choose the right size boot, your foot should not move inside the skate or slide forward.
  • The boot should “sit” on the foot quite tightly, but at the same time it should not cause a feeling of discomfort; it is necessary that the toes touch the inside of the toe of the boot only lightly, without pressing or interfering. If you have fulfilled all of the above conditions, then the size is selected correctly.
  • For children, skates should be selected taking into account foot growth of no more than 1 size during the season.

ATTENTION: Due to the design features, the sizes of both amateur and professional skates NIKE, CCM, GRAF, BAUER, EASTON and RBK may vary slightly, so always REQUEST QUALIFIED ASSISTANCE WHEN SELECTING THE SIZE, AND ALSO TRY ON THE SKATES CAREFULLY BEFORE BUYING!

How to correctly determine the size of the right hockey skates

Determining shoe size

1. Stand with both feet (in socks) on a sheet of paper and trace them with a pencil (you can also measure your shoe insole)

2. Measure the distance between your heel and big toe.

3. If these distances are slightly different for the right and left legs, then choose the larger one.

COMPLETENESS OF LEGS

There are two cases: the first is D(R) - a narrow foot (often used by professionals), the second EE (W) - a fuller foot (in most cases used by amateurs, mainly in Russia).

FOOTWEAR NUMBERING SYSTEMS

Shoe number ( in Russia and CIS countries) is considered to be the size of the foot, which is measured in millimeters, but does not take into account warm socks, decorative allowances for lasts and other things. Foot size is measured between the tip of the toe and the tip of the heel.
French system- in this system, shoe size is calculated as the length of the insole. A stroke is a unit of measurement, and it is equal to 2/3 of a centimeter. Typically, the length of the insole is several millimeters longer than the length of the foot by the so-called decorative allowance, which ranges from 0 to 15 mm. When transferring from one system to another, this factor introduces some confusion. It is generally considered to be 10 mm.

English system- measurements are taken in inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Size zero is counted from the heel curve of the insole to 4 inches, that is, the standard size of a newborn’s foot, and the numbering goes every 1/3 inch from 0 to number 13, then again from 1 to 13.

American system almost identical to the English one, but 1/12 inch (2.1 mm) shifted towards zero. Therefore, in the American and English systems there is one pair of the same sizes.
There is another one for women American system. It differs in that it is shifted even more toward the origin (downwards), and is also numbered from 1 to 13, but only for large numbers.

Rules for trying on and selecting the size of FIGURE skates

  • Choosing the right size is the main factor in choosing skates. As a rule, figure skates should be 0.5 sizes smaller than regular shoes. You should not take skates that are too small or large for you; you should only take them strictly according to size. Your foot should feel comfortable inside. This rule will undoubtedly save you from painful rubbing, distortion of movements and wear.
  • You should only try on skates wearing the socks you will be skating in. You need to put on an unlaced boot, place your foot on the heel and at the same time press well with your heel in the direction of the back of the boot. It is necessary that the boot “sits” tightly on the foot, and should not cause a feeling of discomfort; the toes should only lightly touch the inside of the toe of the boot, without interfering or pressing. If all of the above conditions are met, it means that the size is selected correctly.
  • After choosing boots, you need to learn how to lace them correctly - a little looser near the toe of the boot, and a little tighter in the area of the instep (to secure the heels as much as possible and protect the ankle from injury) and again a little looser in the area of the upper hooks. If you lace up correctly, the heel should be firmly fixed (not moving up and down). When you get up, check if your skates are level - your ankles should not turn outward. The boot should not put pressure on the ankle, but should not hang around it.

The fitting rules, as well as the size charts for RECREATIONAL skates correspond to the standards of figure skates.

Ice skating is beautiful and useful look sports, strengthening the immune system, developing endurance and coordination of movements, forming beautiful posture. In addition, it perfectly lifts your mood and energizes you. The selection of skates for a child must be approached very seriously - the child’s comfort and safety depend on the correct choice of model and size.

How to choose a model

The following types of skates can be found on sale:

  1. Curly, with teeth in the toe part and longer blades - for figure skating.
  2. Hockey shoes, with short blades, a hard sole, reinforced heel and toe parts, reliably protecting the foot and ankle - for hockey.
  3. Cross-country shoes designed for high-speed running on smooth ice.
  4. Walking, with narrow blades and boots made of light plastic - for amateur skating.
  5. Children's, with two blades - for children up to 3 years old.

For ice skating enthusiasts, in addition to recreational ones, figure skates or hockey skates are suitable. For professional activities you need to select the appropriate type.

For young children who are just starting to master the ice, stable skates with double blades are ideal. When the child learns to stand confidently on them, you can purchase a model with one blade, which is better for figure skating– they are lighter and more stable than hockey ones and protect the ankle more reliably than walking ones.

How to choose the right size

When trying on skates on a woolen sock of medium thickness, the boots should fit tightly and comfortably on the foot; ideally, an adult can hardly insert his little finger between the heel and heel. Tighter boots will compress and deform the foot when moving, but loose ones will cause your feet to dangle and you can twist your ankle. Hockey skates need to be purchased one size larger.

High-quality blades are made of hardened stainless steel; it is better to choose matte ones - they wear out less and glide better. The shape of the blades should be slightly curved, raised at the heel and toe.

Having chosen a pair of skates that are suitable in size and quality, place them side by side on a flat surface. If they are not leaving, you can buy.

Skates that are correctly selected in size and quality are the key to successful and safe skating for a young skater. Choose them responsibly and carefully, and then happily go to the skating rink for a portion of health and bright emotions.

People who are just starting to play hockey often ask the question: how to choose skates? In this article we will look at the main points when choosing them.

RULES FOR TRYING ON AND SELECTING HOCKEY SKATES

Landing hockey skates

  • When trying on hockey skates, wear the same socks that you plan to skate in.
  • Hockey skate boots should fit snugly enough to provide the necessary stability and support to your ankle.

Hockey skate size

  • To understand how to choose the right skates, you need to keep in mind that hockey skates have their own sizing system, so your shoe size will not be the same size as your skates.
  • Each manufacturer hockey equipment provides its own sizing chart. Thanks to these tables, you can choose the right size skates by comparing your shoe size and country of residence. But do not forget that tables vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
  • Let's look at how to choose skates that suit your length. Put the boot on your foot, slide your foot back so that your heel is pressed firmly against the heel of the skate. In this position, your toes should lightly touch the toe of the shoe. If your toes rest on the toe, you should take a skate size larger.
  • Sometimes it happens that the length of a hockey boot fits your foot perfectly, but the width is either too narrow or too wide. In this case, you need to move on to choosing skates with the same size, but a different fullness (this will be written below).
  • The question often arises: how to choose skates for a child? Given your foot height, it is recommended to choose skates half a size larger. A half size will be equivalent to the thickness of one finger between the heel of the boot and the heel of the foot. If you do not want to harm your child, then you should not buy skates larger than half a size. A large shoe will wobble on your foot, leading to poor balance, falls, and leg or ankle injuries.

Below we provide size correspondence tables for the most popular hockey skate manufacturers in our country.
