Sometimes you just want to write a post - in the usual sense of the word, with photos taken on the phone, and not very high requirements for background and context. I will take advantage of this rare opportunity.
On the weekend that turned up, being in Novocheboksarsk with relatives, I decided to attend two matches of the Chuvash football championship.
There is a lot of football in Chuvashia - the highest, first and second divisions, and the first is also divided into two subgroups. However, there is also a lot of hockey in Chuvashia -.
First, I went to the match of the weakest, judging by the results, the team of Chuvashia - "Banners" from the village of Second Vurmankasy, Tsivilsky district. Prior to this round, she did not score a single point, but there were some chances to break a bad streak. A team from the village of Almen-Sunary, Vurnarsky district, came to visit the "Banner", which, firstly, had only five points, and secondly, they came with ten of them.
I, like the guests, was wearing a red T-shirt, but even if I imagined that I would have had boots with me and my knee would have been in order, they would not have let me in: the regional championship is still serious, there is no place for legionnaires here .
The field in Vtori Vurmankasy looked as pastoral as possible. When I approached, they were just finishing smoothing it with a tractor. The captain of the team at number 2, determining the composition, grumbled that today he was somehow no good at all, and put Messi in the support zone.
The field was significantly uneven and stopping the ball was no easy task even for the best. As a result, there was a classic “hole-hole”, and three dangerous moments could be observed in the first half: two heaps-malas with rebounds after corners and one when the home defender, taking the ball from the flank, accidentally brought the attacking midfielder of the guests to the shock position - he, out of surprise, with all his strength loaded directly into the goalkeeper.
Once again I thought that regional hockey is noticeably more interesting than regional football. The atmosphere seems to be colorful too, but the score 0:0 is like that gun that outweighs dozens of other arguments. Yes, and "hole-holes" in hockey are usually much more fun to watch.
During the break, one of the founding fathers (judging by the age) of the hosts came onto the field, but in the very first attack he collapsed on the grass - an old injury aggravated. It was arguably the fastest return substitution in football history.
The referee, probably, was also tired of seeing the torment of the players, and at some point he set a penalty for a violation on the very corner of the penalty area for the hosts. It must be understood that neither the fans nor (most often) the referee saw the markings because of the tall grass. I was convinced that if there was a foul, then 22 meters from the goal - but no, a penalty.
The guests scored, and I thought that we should go to Kugeshi - there might be something more interesting there.
In conclusion, I want to say that with my slightly ironic tone, I do not want to offend the participants in the match in Vtorim Vurmankas. It's great that people from such small villages gather, play and even enter the championship of the republic. Leaving, I drew attention to the memorial to those who died in the Great Patriotic War with a huge list of surnames for such a village. I immediately remembered the song of the Dutch band Nits ‘J.O.S. Days' about how rural football team almost all did not return from the war.
No, football is better.
In the district center of Kugeshi, on a completely empty main street, I met only old man in a wheelchair.
“Boy, take me to the church, it’s about five hundred meters,” he said.
I took it. On the way, the man complained - however, quite mildly - about his friends (“Everyone left them”), about himself (“I shouldn’t have drunk ... But not very much ...”) and about something else that I did not catch. In parting, I thought about giving him money, but something stopped me - suddenly he will drink more, and this time more. But for football, probably, he should have been invited to go.
On an empty and rather large stadium with a banner "Rotor" - a thunderstorm of Chuvashia! I was expected, as it turned out later, a very exciting game. One of the two leaders of the top division - FC "Shumerlya-ShZSA" from, respectively, Shumerli, came to visit "Burily" (an excellent name), which had 7 points after 8 rounds.
- Do you want to go to the beach? Are you tired of football?! 90 minutes will soon be over, you won't have time to blink an eye! shouted the coach of the guests from the top row of the only podium. Indeed, it was very hot (all the fans fled from the podium under the shade of trees), the players started sluggishly.
The Burils, apparently, played without a coach - they were prompted from the edge of the field by retired and injured players. I didn't notice any spare players either.
It was evident that the guests were higher class and more cheerful, but they were in no hurry to score. Moreover, around the 30th minute, Buril's only dangerous free kick led to a goal: the ball dived, the goalkeeper beat it back with difficulty, and the forward pushed it on the rebound.
Soon the main event of the day took place. One of the hosts' players was injured and was lying on the far edge of the field from the podium. And suddenly a girl-doctor in a dress and with a scarf started to help him, while everyone else was still playing. As a result, she ran across the field like a highway - dodging the ball and the players. The referee looked at it stoically, without whistling.
I even have a video of the second half of this race, but somehow I feel embarrassed to upload it because of the comments of other fans. The amount of swearing that evening at the stadium in Kugesy went off scale. Do not consider me a snob - I myself can sometimes swear well, but here it was somehow too much. Hockey swears clearly less. The referee, if he had been less liberal, could have kicked out about everyone from the field, with the exception of his assistants and two or three of the most silent players.
The show started in the second half. Football players of "Shumerlya-SZSA" stormed the gates of the hosts, but did not realize one chance after another. The goalkeeper, past the goal, past the ball, the post, the goalkeeper, past again ... The impulsive coach jumped, raised his hands to the sky, fell on the lawn - nothing helped.
A minute into the 88th and he seems to have stopped believing that at least someone in his team can score. And for sure - the Buril forward, who escaped into an extremely rare counterattack, was already filled up almost in the goalkeeper's area.
Penalty went to beat the most massive veteran. “Well, no, I won’t look at it,” one of the acting officers raised his hands to the sky. coach and turned away. But the veteran scored, and that was it.
The Burils celebrated for a long time - the match went really well.
And I still do not know how the game ended in the Second Vurmankas. The result was not posted on the Football Chuvashia website - as if there was no such game.

IN next year, in the year of the World Cup in Russia, it will be 25 years since the last time a professional team from Chuvashia was involved in domestic football. In 1993, the Cheboksary team "Azamat" spent its final season in the second league (neither she, nor her predecessors "Temp", "Energy" and "Stal" rose higher), in the next it was announced to participate in the Russian Cup, but match 1/256 finals she did not come out. For this, she was credited with a technical defeat.
It is symbolic that Rubin from Kazan, the city where the matches of the Confederations Cup were recently held, and the games of the same World Cup 2018 will be held in a year, was supposed to become the opponent in that match. And most importantly, Rubin itself has since reached cosmic heights: it has reached the Premier League and won the Russian championship twice. Ronaldo and Messi came to our neighbors. In Cheboksary - at best, veterans of Spartak.
Of course, one could understand the mood of the Chuvash fans, who regularly went to the matches of the volleyball "Stal", the basketball "Bouquet of Chuvashia", the hockey "Sokol", the football, but amateur club "Torgovy Dom Yelnikovo". They all love team sports (which is why it was easy to meet the same faces at the matches of these teams), and many of them were indignant at the fact that Chuvashia was a blank spot on the map of Russian football.
But at the same time, one must be aware that both then, and even more so at the present time, the maintenance of a professional football club is an expensive undertaking that requires huge investments. Where can I get them? From the budget? This is allowed but not encouraged. Commercial investors? Why not. But do we have those who are able to go to great expense for the maintenance and development of the team? In Russia, just the reverse process is observed: due to lack of funds, clubs disappear. There are those who are still holding on, but with multi-million dollar debts.
Maybe it's worth while to focus on the development of mass football - for example, among school, yard teams? In Russia, by the way, such tournaments are held, the best participants of which are given the opportunity to try their hand at a professional team, even a Premier League team. Why not an incentive? Just the social significance is obvious.
And has it become difficult for a resident of Chuvashia to live because of the lack of a professional team? Not sure. According to my observations, the republic as a whole and its capital in particular are flourishing. There is enough entertainment in Cheboksary even without professional football. Moreover, the second league was our ceiling, therefore, the arrival of Spartak, CSKA or Zenit in Chuvashia could take place in a fantastic scenario - when our team reached the 1/16 finals of the Russian Cup ...
