Stud Farm 39. Altai Stud Farm

... The territory of the stud farm is simply gorgeous. Magnificent stables, sinks and paddocks. The smell is luxurious... Then, with skin, hay, manure, love, in the end... :) hooves, bass player neighs and laughs, and he begins to drool profusely ... At the same time, he himself begins to smell somehow special, invitingly, inviting ... they say musk ... :). Of course, we wouldn't care for anything ourselves. But our guide shows how to do it right and makes us not be afraid. And touching at least once and for a moment the plush above the upper lip - these feelings will never be forgotten ...

Georgenburg (Georgenburg) - the village of Mayovka.
~6-7km from Chernyakhovsk.
123 km from Zelenogradsk.
92 km from Kaliningrad.

As usual, having left the gates of the Insterburg castle, we asked ourselves the question - in what direction is the village of Mayovka with a stud farm. Having waited for a rare passerby, they were instructed to turn left. Which we did, but after driving 6-7 km and not meeting a single sign, we got worried and stopped at some fork in some village near the wall of some house that looked like a shop. For 10-15 minutes they gnawed peaches and waited for at least someone to ask. Unable to stand it, I got out of the car and tried to shout out the windows and doors - there was no answer. After shaking the air with unsatisfied questions, I stepped out onto the road to see if there was a hint of anything moving. The opposite side of the road was the side of some huge, densely and unkemptly overgrown hill. I raised my head and was dumbfounded - at the top I could see the wall of the Georgienburg castle, or rather, what was left of it. So it finally dawned on us that we were almost at the goal - in Maevka.

Back in 2007, this castle was almost intact ...

But where is the factory? A car full of tourists stopped next to us and asked us the same question :). Through expert discussion, it was decided to turn to the left junction. We weren't wrong. But how wrong was the guidebook, which devoted only a small paragraph to the Georgenburg stud farm. Disorderly.
The first thing that catches your eye is a beautiful arena behind a beautiful forged lattice. The second is that it is a modern and beautiful looking complex, which includes, in addition to the stables, a hotel and a restaurant of the same name.

Hotel complex at the stud farm

Behind the gate you can see the arena. Let's go there

It was not clear how to get inside. The people who were in front of us, after poking into the guard's closed booth and spitting on the pavement, turned around and left. After watching this scene, we decided not to retreat. And we went to the hotel, at the reception of which we quickly found out that excursions are held almost every 40 minutes - an hour, tickets are sold from them and cost 70 rubles, and that we have to wait for the guide for about half an hour. We are delighted with the equestrian solitaire so successfully played out and decided to have a quick bite to eat in a restaurant. The interior of which, by the way, like the whole hotel was English and horse. Very pleasant - the predominance of green color and tapestry furniture and the image is clear who :).
Everything would be fine if the waitress, who was not warned by us that we were in a hurry and could not sit, said “yes, yes, yes, I understand you” and, having taken the order, did not disappear in an unknown direction. As I later found out, I “went to the accounting department” :):):(. So we were almost standing up tossing salads and juliennes. We were already waiting.

We are not horsemen. We are not interested in horse news, we don’t understand breeds, we don’t watch horse races, we don’t attend horse races, we don’t bet on the winning horse in a sweepstakes.
But after visiting the stud farm "Georgienburg" I'm not afraid to say that all this is almost in the past tense. At the word of a horse, my heart is warming now.
After communicating with horses, it is impossible to imagine a different result.

Our tour is exclusive again - two of us and a guide. A woman, as she told herself, in love with horses and the mother of five children.

The territory of the stud farm is simply gorgeous. A magnificent arena filled with a special mixture of rubber sawdust and volcanic sand, which protects the hooves of the horses prancing here, shining with muscular sides and waving silky manes and tails of horses.

Then he asks the passing dismounted rider to leave us for a while a handsome red-haired traken in white stockings, whom we hold by the bridle and take pictures ...

Trakens, Holsteiners, Hanoverians…. This is where you should have started.
Trakens are excellent riding horses. Not only are they absolutely handsome. But also the owners of "elastic movements with natural impulses", as well as character - "good-natured", temperament - "energetic and balanced". Historically, horses of this breed began to be bred in the early 18th century. in the settlement of Gross Trakenen (today it is Yasnaya Polyana, Nesterovsky district, Kaliningrad region). The founding father of the Traken line is the Arabian horse Persianer. Do not forget that lovers of horseback riding, horse racing and canine hunting always were (and are) primarily aristocrats.

Stud farm "Georgenburg" is the "loudspeaker" of these horses and the owner of the inviolable Traken gene pool. And this plant has a long, ancient and impressive history.
End of the 14th century. The knights of the Teutonic Order build a castle here, which is named after the patron saint of the crusaders, the holy knight George, and presented to the bishop. And here, in this place, they begin to breed horses for knights. Time is flowing. And centuries later, Georgenburg, naturally, somewhat changes its horse orientation - massive carriage horses are now bred here for the royal court and draft horses for carriages. And in the early 19th century. the factory is bought by the Scotsman Simpson, begins to cross thoroughbred English stallions, owners of special "trotting" abilities, with powerful and hardy Prussian horses (or vice versa :)) and receives a new breed - trakens - noble half-breeds, and for a successful experiment also the noble prefix "von » to the surname and the right of the mark of the trakens - a double elk horn.

In 1899, the state bought the stud farm (in the same year, it also acquired amber production!). And Georgenburg becomes the largest horse breeding plant in Europe.

In the 1940s the plant ceased to exist, or the breeding stallions dispersed to different countries, or died. After the war - all the horses evacuated from the factory - became our war trophy. And little by little, various stud farms began to restore the breeding of the Traken breed.
More recently, just a few years ago, the stud farm was almost in ruins. This is as it should be. The name Georgenburg was hidden under the name Maevka. The Bishop's castle, by the way, burned down... a few months ago... - safely standing for 6 centuries... Just when some organization left from there. It is possible that she expressed her dissatisfaction in a similar way ...

How it was and how it became

I understand that the question arises for a long time - who revived the entire horse economy.
Anatoly Ramazanovich Oruzhev.
Former Minister of Oil and Gas of Bashkortostan and current businessman and president ...

The stud farm now has many sponsors “from the pipe”.
I think that when money is invested not in personal property acquisitions, but in such a noble cause as the restoration of horse breeding sports purpose- it costs more than gold. In 2002 Georgenburg has regained its original name and is now an internationally renowned and respected venue for all sorts of equestrian show jumping and dressage tournaments featuring "the best riders on the planet". About 40 trakens are now chewing hay, kicking and enjoying life in his stables.

We were the last ones to close the temporary tour chain for today, and therefore our guide showed everything and told us about everything in a big way, without rushing anywhere and slowly.
You can write for a long time, but it is necessary for everyone to personally feel the magic of horses. I don't know what exactly it is. But here at the stud farm, the invisible warmth coming from these animals begins to envelop you. They are so different, with incredibly elegant and perfect silhouettes and lines, colors, hairstyles and characters, but the main thing is that not a single person who is not in love with horses works here ... Teenagers, 10-12 years old, come here alone, without parents , live here in a hotel and take care of horses ... Character is brought up from childhood ...

We barely left. Especially for a long time we stood in one of the very picturesque courtyards, there was a fenced area where touching foal (pregnant) horses grazed. The sun shone brightly, enhancing the blueness of the sky and the redness of the tiled roofs, and clearly outlined the empty windows in the half-black walls of the ancient episcopal castle not far away.

A separate site of the VTB Stud Farm is the most mysterious territory of New Moscow. Firstly, officials and the media rarely mention it, despite the fact that the area of this site is 2718 hectares. The territory of the stud farm extends from the rural settlement of Ilinskoye almost to Zvenigorod. For comparison, the area of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye and Skolkovo plots (these lands also became part of New Moscow) is 803 and 506 hectares, respectively. Secondly, unlike all other sites attached to New Moscow, VTB Stud Farm does not have common borders with Moscow and is a new exclave of the capital and an enclave of the Moscow region. Well, and thirdly, the Moscow border on this territory neatly skirted all the settlements, that is, all the settlements and the people living there remain under the jurisdiction of the Moscow Region authorities. At the same time, some villages and villages, for example, Dubtsy, Ubory and Aksinino, remaining the territory of the Moscow region, were completely surrounded by new Moscow (in the diagram). Enclaves within an enclave. Not without sad curiosities here. So, in the village of Islavskoye, the capital, a part of the gas pipeline and a playground have departed.

Question history.

In the early 2000s, the Novgorod chemical holding Akron became the owner of the First Stud Farm. According to the Vedomosti newspaper, in 2001 the Novgorod holding bought 40% of the stud farm for $2 million, and a year later increased its stake to 80.82%. As a result, the stud farm, along with 2,300 hectares of land on the Rublevo-Uspenskoye Highway, cost Akron less than $3 million. Then the interest in the Moscow stud farm in the press service of Akron was explained by the fact that the management of the Nizhny Novgorod holding was fond of equestrian sports.

By the way, the main owner of Akron, Vyacheslav Kantor, became widely known thanks to the Yukos affair. Kantor was a friend and confidant of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, but when the Yukos trial took place, he actively entered into political game authorities, testifying against Khodorkovsky and Lebedev.

But back to the stud farm. Despite the love of the management for horses, the enterprise of Vyacheslav Kantor in the mid-2000s got rid of the stud farm, reselling it to the United Industrial Corporation (OPK) of ex-senator Sergei Pugachev. The defense industry planned to build about 1 million square meters on the acquired lands. meters of suburban housing. For these purposes, the plots were transferred from agricultural land to settlement land.

Pugachev planned to build on credit funds. On the security of land for VTB Bank, the entrepreneur issued about 2.4 billion credit funds. But during the crisis, Sergei Pugachev's corporation went bankrupt, and the mortgaged land plots on Rublevo-Uspenskoye Highway, according to the RIA Novosti news agency, went to the creditor bank, however, at an extremely price - 20 thousand dollars per hundred square meters.

Moscow behind the fence.

VTB structures have announced various development projects on the land of the stud farm several times. In particular, two years ago, a number of specialized media reported that VTB would build about 1.5 thousand square meters on the lands of Stud Farm No. 1. meters of real estate. However, these projects are still on hold. When asked by a correspondent of the Elite.RU magazine about projects on the territory of the stud farm, the press service laconicly answered that the issue is still under development.

Experts are sure that the delay in the implementation of projects is due to the fact that the sale of housing simply will not pay off the loan amount, since the bank paid too high a price for Pugachev's land. Moreover, they are located quite far from the Moscow Ring Road, and besides, they do not have a flatter cover (forest plots are valued much more expensively).

The conclusion suggests itself that the Rublyovo land became part of Moscow thanks to the lobbying of VTB. If not for one “but”: after joining the capital, according to the director of the consulting, analytics and research department Elena Rzhavskaya, the land did not rise much in price and today is estimated at between 10-12 thousand dollars per hundred square meters.

While the bankers are considering what to do with the "gift of Pugachev", many residents, without waiting for the builders to come, are selling houses and plots. In particular, an old village house with a plot of 23 acres in the village of Ubory is being sold for $1.1 million. And on the next street - a plot of 30 acres put up for sale for $ 1 million. However, according to the managing partner of the company “ Century 21 West» Evgeny Skomorovsky, the residents are asking too high a price and when a real buyer appears, they will have to give him a significant discount from this price. Still, the main criteria for choosing expensive suburban real estate for buyers are location, social environment and ecology. And the Moscow land behind the fence of a village house is a dubious advantage.

By purchasing a horse, the buyer assumes responsibility, which he must be aware of. Unlike the purchase of a car, the transaction involves a living creature, which is not only at its disposal: on the contrary, the owner must be at the disposal of the animal, providing not only optimal maintenance, care and feeding, but also the necessary movement and occupation. A horse should only be bought by someone who is aware of these aspects!
After that, the buyer must decide what kind of horse he wants, whether he is going to compete in tournament sports, engage in hobby riding or use it for another purpose. Therefore, not only the breed, type, size of the horse depends on the level of training of the rider, but also the decision in which way to acquire a horse.

There are several ways to purchase a horse: buying from a stud farm, at an auction, from a private seller or horse dealer. Each of these paths has its pros and cons depending on the horse the buyer is looking for and above all on the buyer's personality.
It is best to take the advice of an experienced horse connoisseur when choosing and buying a horse. During more specific negotiations, the buyer should slowly inspect the horse on the movements. A good handler or the buyer himself, if he is able, should try the horse under saddle.
It is important to check whether the data on age, color and marks in the documents (pedigree certificate, birth certificate, horse passport) match the real state of affairs. If this is not the case, you should refrain from buying.

A veterinary examination (primarily on behalf of the seller) is also offered in every case. The seller and the buyer together must contact the veterinarian or clinic and agree on who bears the cost of the research. They must be carried out immediately. If the seller and the buyer have agreed, a contract is concluded, necessarily in writing. When changing ownership (including after buying a horse from a stud) all horses in the Russian Federation must have a passport issued.

LLC "Altai stud farm 39" is considered the oldest stud farm in Siberia. To this day, the plant is one of the leaders in Russian Federation for breeding the Oryol breed of horses.

Factory history

A hundred years ago, the merchant Alexander Adrianovich Vinokurov decided to establish the first stud farm in Altai. The Russian army was growing at that time, and the military department needed horses for the newly formed artillery and cavalry units.

After the revolution, in 1923, by order of the Siberian Trust of Stud Farms, the former distillery received a new name: “The First Siberian State Stud Farm”.

Throughout the 20th century, the plant grew and developed. The decades have had their ups and downs. In the new millennium, in 2006, the horse breeding industry of the plant became an independent enterprise - Altai Stud Farm 39 LLC. People, materiel, horses - everything remained in place. To date, the plant has about 60 mares with an average annual population of 200-220 heads, 1650 hectares of arable land and the necessary set of agricultural machinery.

Plant Description

Today, on the territory of the Altai stud farm there is one brood stable, there is a department for breeding stallions, two training departments, and there is also a separate stable for foals.

At the uterine stable there are breweries for keeping queens in the fresh air during the stall period.

All horse breeding buildings are concentrated in the village of Zavodskoy, in a single complex.
Close to the complex of factory buildings adjoins the factory hippodrome with a dirt track 1067 m long.

The pedigree horse stock of the Altai Stud Farm is provided with green and roughage due to:
1. Natural pastures located 3 km from the estate. Natural grazing is a perennial fallow with patches of solonchak soils, the grass is rich in minerals, which contributes to the dryness and strength of the tendon-ligamentous apparatus.
2. In the second half of summer, natural pastures sharply reduce their productivity due to grazing and burning out of grasses. At this time, herds of breeding horses graze on the aftermath of seeded perennial grass hayfields, and at the end of summer - on stubble.
The horses are supplied with grain fodder at the expense of the grain farm of the plant.
The water supply to the stables of the Alatian plant is provided by a pumping station, from an artesian well.

The Altai Stud Farm is proud of its six All-Union and All-Russian record holders, who have set a total of thirteen records. Ippik is considered the absolute record holder of the breed, one of the records of which, set in 1986, has not been broken so far.

The advantages of the plant include the fact that in 1993 the Zodiac stallion was purchased by Great Britain directly for the court of the English queen, and in 2003 the President of the Russian Federation V. Putin presented the Ipl stallion to the North Korean leader Kim Jong Il.
