So, you want your child to play football. 6 to 8 years old is the best age to try. It must be remembered: the main thing at the first stage of familiarization with sports is not to discourage the child from doing it. Therefore, it makes no sense to tear him away from toys before six years, and after eight years there is already a risk of falling behind his peers, and therefore, there is a danger of discomfort during training. However, the cases are different, and sometimes the guys who started in football at 10-11 years old are significantly ahead of the “earlier” players in the future.
Where to begin?
First, let's determine the level of preparation. At general education schools and housing departments exist football sections“for everyone”, whose main task is to organize the leisure of children and improve their general physical condition. If you do not see any special abilities in your child, it is better to start studying there.
Often, such a “soft start” helps the child to relax, enter the training rhythm and begin to progress. The first common misconception among parents is that a weak boy will correct his shortcomings if he trains among strong ones. This is wrong. If a guy deliberately lags behind the rest of the children and does not cope with the exercises proposed by the coach, he begins to be ridiculed, becomes a kind of outcast, and eventually loses all desire to practice at all. Therefore, to begin with, choose the most sparing mode, “your environment”.
Another thing is if the boy is really mobile and shows a keen interest in the ball. Then it makes sense to think about studying at a football school.
How to choose a football school
The second common myth among parents is that if you count on serious results, you need to get into an elite school with a loud sign - that is, in the SDUSHOR with professional club premier league.
In fact, the level of training of children is determined primarily by coaching skills. And it, this skill, even in reputable schools is different. Among the mentors of the leading children's teams there are really talented teachers and interesting specialists. But there are also half-educated, psychopaths, businessmen from children's football. It should be borne in mind that the position of a coach in a children's school with a good professional club is not the most penniless place at the present time, especially in comparison with similar positions of colleagues in other sports. Therefore, often the coaching rate in the elite SDUSHOR is occupied not by the “best”, but by “their own”.
Another point worth paying attention to- the tasks that the coach solves. The club with a name and its own football school - with the appropriate ambitions. The results of the matches are always indicators of the effective work of the team mentor. And these results are sometimes achieved without regard to the psyche of children, their individual characteristics of development.
The guys who passed the tough selection, having received the coveted place in the “strongest school”, fall under powerful psychological pressure - they are required not only to comply with the “non-childish” training regime, but also to win in all tournaments. The worst, according to the coach, children are expelled from the team annually. No one will mess with me there - that's for sure. The fact that football talent is manifested in every child in different ages- a factor for such an approach is insignificant, and it is taken into account quite rarely.
Another surprise for which you should be prepared for in the "promoted" schools: Your child will have to compete, among others, with overgrown children. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to deal with this phenomenon. Parents who dream of a professional football career for their child are sometimes ready to go to any lengths to achieve their desired goal, and some coaches even assist them in this. There is a common scheme for a child to get into a strong football school: at the age of 5-7 years, the boy's birth certificate is redone, "rejuvenating" him for a year or two. Then he comes to the selection in junior group according to their documents. Such a child, of course, among formal peers will be in sports plan look brighter. Therefore, his chances of being "selected", and in the future to become the leader of the team, grow significantly. According to unofficial statistics, in some metropolitan schools, ranked among the leading ones, the number of such overage reaches 30% of total involved.
Usually, the following argument is given in favor of elite football schools - most of their graduates end up in teams of masters, become professionals. However, it is necessary to understand who exactly these graduates are. Of those children who come to these schools at the age of 6–8, almost none reach graduation at 16–17. The fate of the "best" and "selected" at an early age in football - most often remains unknown..
Based on the foregoing, I personally would refrain from recommending a children's football school with a big name to your child. In every city there are many excellent youth sports schools and clubs where the quality of education does not conflict with the natural development of the child. But, I repeat once again for you, dear parents: do not look for good school– look for good coach. Take the time - travel to different sports clubs, watch how the classes go, chat with people. It is then that you will choose a worthy mentor for your child.
If your boy shows himself over the years of training as a really capable player, sooner or later he will still be in a strong and promising team. And you don’t have to look far for examples: the current stars of CSKA, the Berezutsky brothers, studied at the Smena Youth Sports School in Kapotnya, and Spartak Denis Boyarintsev learned the basics of football there. And let's say, the European champion among youths, torpedo player Sergei Morozov, until the age of 13, studied at the Krylatskoye football school.

What you need to know as a parent of a young football player
Firstly, it should be remembered that classes should bring joy and pleasure to the child - only then the guy will really “open up”. Based on this, try to create a psychological environment that is comfortable for your child to study.
It is desirable that the very place of training - a football school or section - is not located too far from home. A tedious two-way road is a test that is absolutely not necessary to endure in order to become a good sportsman. History knows many examples when future stars for years daily traveled fair distances for the sake of training - but these are rather exceptions to the rules, and it is hardly worth accepting a kind of "Spartan" version of the education of a football player as a desired model.
Buy the boy really comfortable boots (it will cost about one and a half thousand rubles) and a good ball (meet the same amount). This is just not the item of expenditure on which you should save. The ball, with which it is desirable for a guy to communicate more often in the yard, should not be heavy or hard, and in addition, have a perfectly round shape (which is usually not the case with Chinese-made balls for 200-300 rubles). It is best to purchase a lightweight ball of the fourth size of the training series (memorize this wording as a spell to communicate with sellers in stores). Well, if you don’t find it, try to take just a good branded ball - and it will last longer, and the boy’s leg will be more pleasant.
Next up is the training itself. Discipline and seriousness are of course important. However, do not demand too much from the child at once. He may be inattentive and poorly learn the exercises in comparison with other peers - try not to scold him, do not shout, especially during the lesson itself: there is a coach for that. It is better to gently and calmly explain the mistakes after training. However, it’s also not worth letting slips “on the brakes” completely: try outside training sessions communicate with the child, explain something: he should feel your interest in the process. And, of course, do not forget to praise him - this is generally the most important thing!
And the last: no matter how you want happy football career for a guy - do not “overfeed” him with communication with the ball: this is fraught with a loss of interest in football in a few years. Everything should be fun. The optimal training regimen is 2-3 times a week for the smallest, 3-4 times for those who are older. Outside of training sessions, it is desirable that the boy fiddle with the ball for no more than an hour and a half a day - unless he himself has a burning desire to do it in large volumes. And a completely unacceptable thing is the parallel teaching of a child practiced by some parents in two directions at once. football schools.
