The best goal in the euro. Having missed several good chances to level the score during the fight, in the last minutes the Ukrainians went for broke, for which, in fact, they paid the price

10. Jakub Blaszczykowski (Poland - Ukraine - 1:0).

Our rating is opened by a goal that did not change anything in the final arrangement of the teams in group C, but it is no less cool for that. At the beginning of the second half of the match, with the Ukrainians, who had already lost their chances at that time to get into the playoffs of the Euro Ukrainians, the Poles perfectly took advantage of the corner - after drawing the standard position, Arkadiusz Milik could have hit from a good position, but decided to play more cunningly, giving an unobvious pass to the penalty area to Cuba, which after a false swing was accurate.

9. Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany - Ukraine - 2:0).

And one more goal scored against the Ukrainian national team. On the whole, the Yellow-Blues had a very high-quality meeting with the reigning world champions, at least the whipping boys did not look like Mikhail Fomenko's team against the background of eminent rivals.

Having missed several good chances to level the score during the match, in the last minutes the Ukrainians went for broke, for which, in fact, they paid the price. The Germans, on the other hand, came out with an ideal counterattack in their execution, which was completed by Schweinsteiger, who had entered the field just two minutes before.

8. Luka Modric (Croatia - Turkey - 1:0).

The Croats at this Euro even though they lasted much less than they deserved, but they left a strong impression of themselves. Already the first ball of the "checkers" at the tournament became its decoration, and the credit for this lies entirely with the star playmaker of Real Madrid. Greatly calculating the trajectory of the “round” after the Turks carried it out of the penalty area, the midfielder decided on a long-range strike and did not lose, scoring the “Janissaries”, as it turned out later, the winning goal.

7. Zoltan Gera (Hungary - Portugal - 3:3).

Perhaps one of the main discoveries of the European Championship in France - the Hungarian national team - ruffled a lot of nerves for the team of Cristiano Ronaldo in the last game group stage, as a result of which the Portuguese could even go home on a shield.

And Zoltan Gera opened the scoring in that match with a fantastic blow from Zoltan Gera, who plays for the modest Budapest Ferencvaros at the club level. Having received a projectile after an unsuccessful, it seemed, corner kick, the 37-year-old football player took it on his chest and then opened the goal with a well-balanced long-range shot into the bottom corner Ruya Patricio In this meeting, however, a better goal was scored, but more on that later.

6. Alvaro Morata (Spain - Croatia - 1:2).

The brilliant combinational attack of the Spaniards just a little bit did not reach the top 5 of our rating, but it is hardly worth upsetting the strongest on this this moment team of Europe.

In the filigree multi-move, I would like to especially note David Silva, who gave the grandmaster's cutting pass into the penalty area to Cesc Fabregas. Xavi should be calm - his successors do not fail.

5. Nikola Kalinich (Spain - Croatia - 1:2).

However, the Croats did not grieve after Morata's goal for long, already at the end of the first half, having managed to equalize the score in no less beautiful way. Ivan Perisic developed a great attack, which, by the way, became one of the revelations of the tournament. Having freed himself on the left flank thanks to a masterful feint, the midfielder made a low pass to the goalkeeper David de Gea, where Kalinich turned out to be the quickest of all, correcting the ball into the goal with his heel.

4. Cristiano Ronaldo (Hungary - Portugal - 3:3).

And here, in fact, the previously promised goal.

In the course of the first two matches of the Euro, KriRo ruined a lot of chances, failing to score even from a penalty kick in the match with Austria (0:0), but in the final game of the leader of the "creamy" broke through, the apotheosis of which was the first of the striker's two goals.

To be honest, this goal is very similar to the 5th place in our top, but in this case, the heel strike itself looks more elegant, and Cristiano's position was less advantageous than that of Kalinic.

3. Marek Gamshik (Russia - Slovakia - 1:2).

List Bronze best goals goes to the main star of the Slovakian national team Marek Hamshik. The ball, which is painful for Russian fans to remember, turned out, to be honest, amazing.

Until now, only one thing is not clear: how could such a master be allowed to take the projectile so calmly not far from the gates of Igor Akinfeev, and why even after that they did not offer him maximum resistance?

2. Dimitri Payet (France - Romania - 2:1).

Interestingly, one of the best Euro goals was already scored in the first game of the tournament.

The entire match with the hosts of the championship, the Romanians fought desperately and were almost ready to accept well-deserved congratulations for a fighting draw, as Payet ruined everything for them. A stunning long-range strike from the midfielder straight into the far top corner of the goal, Ciprian Tătăruşanu, not only gave his team victory, but also made the West Ham player, who had already had an amazing season in the Premier League, take even closer look.

1. Sherdan Shaqiri (Switzerland - Poland - 1:1 (4:5).

Goal, for the sake of which, perhaps, this rating was compiled. A goal that is better to see once than to read about it a thousand times. A goal that has every chance of becoming one of the best goals of the year. The only pity is that for the Swiss Shaqiri's goal was the last, albeit incredibly bright, pleasant moment of the European Championship. In the quarterfinals of the Euro only for beautiful balls, as you know, they are not allowed.

The European Championship in France has ended, and we continue to sum up its results. "Euro-Futbol.ru" selected the ten most beautiful goals of the continental forum and presented it to the attention of its readers.

10. Zoltan Gera, Hungary - Portugal, 1:0 (19’)

Our top ten is opened by Zoltan Gera from the Hungarian national team, who scored a beautiful goal against Portugal. After filing from the corner, the “European Brazilians” fought back, but Gera was in the right place on the rebound. He took the ball to his chest and famously shot from outside the penalty area.

9. Eden Hazard, Hungary - Belgium, 0:3 (80’)

In the 1/8 finals of the European Championship, Eden Hazard scored his signature goal. One of the leaders of the Belgian national team moved to the center from the left flank, not noticing the defenders, after which he delivered a striking blow into the corner from the penalty area.

8. Eder, Portugal - France, 1:0 (109’)

We gave eighth place to the author of the "golden goal" of the Portuguese national team. IN Extra time of the final match against France, Eder dared to strike from twenty-six meters and turned out to be right - the ball flew exactly into the lower left corner of the gate.

7. Dimitri Payet, France - Romania, 2:1 (89’)

The opening match of the European Championship was close to a sensational draw between the French and Romanians, until Dimitri Payet said his weighty word at the end of the second half. The leader of the “tricolor” struck a chic blow with his left foot exactly in the far “nine”.

6. Luka Modric, Turkey - Croatia, 0:1 (41’)

A very beautiful goal in the first game of the Croatian national team in the tournament against Turkey was held by Luka Modric. Midfielder “checkered” great caught the ball on his foot after the rebound and struck with a rebound from the lawn, which was very uncomfortable for the goalkeeper.

5. Raja Nainggolan, Wales - Belgium, 0:1 (13’)

In the quarter-final match of Euro 2016 against Wales, everything started very well for Belgium. Already in the thirteenth minute, the “Red Devils” took the lead after Nainggolan's gorgeous long-range strike in the upper left corner.

4. Cristiano Ronaldo, Hungary - Portugal, 2:2 (50’)

3. Marek Gamshik, Russia - Slovakia, 0:2 (45’)

The top three goals of the European Championship are opened by the fantastic goal of the Slovak Marek Hamsik in the match against Russia. After drawing a corner midfielder on the left edge of the penalty area removed the opponent on the backswing, and then famously shot into the far top corner - the ball from the bar flew into the net.

2. Hal Robson-Kanu, Wales 2-1 Belgium (55’)

Hal Robson-Kahn's amazing goal is simply not to be missed. The Wales striker just punched Thibaut Courtois in close combat, but what did he do a moment earlier! With one move, Robson-Kanu made a fool of three Belgian national team players who rushed to “read” the pass to Neil Taylor.

1. Xherdan Shaqiri, Switzerland - Poland, 1:1 (82’)

Swiss Xherdan Shaqiri became the author of the best goal of the European Championship in France. He managed an incredible scissors kick from the penalty area in the round of 16 match against Poland. This goal fans will scroll in memory for a long time.

Do not miss! Leaderboard, statistics and news !

Xherdan Shaqiri and Cristiano Ronaldo left behind

The 2016 European Football Championship ended last weekend, the winner of the tournament is known, best players- Also. It remains to find out only the names of those who became the authors of the most beautiful goals - the most important component of this beautiful sport. Union of European Football Associations and we present you our top five.

Zoltan Gera (Hungary)

But, perhaps, we will start from the official announcement of UEFA, although many do not agree with their decision. The Union recognized the best goal of the Hungarian national team player Zoltan Gera, which he scored against Portugal in the group stage match (3:3).

The 37-year-old Hungarian veteran was the first to rebound from someone else's penalty area after a corner, handled the ball and long-range strike surprised the future European champion - Ruy Patricio.

Xherdan Shaqiri (Switzerland)

However, according to most users, the most beautiful goal of Euro 2016 was scored not by Gera at all, but by a midfielder national team Switzerland Xherdan Shaqiri. It happened in the 1/8 final match, when his team lost to Poland with a score of 0:1.

In the 82nd minute, Shaqiri waited for the ball on the penalty line and sent it with a kick through himself exactly into the far corner of the opponent's goal. True, in the end, even this masterpiece did not help the Swiss reach the quarterfinals.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)

It is unlikely that the 2016 European Championship could be considered successful if the name of Cristiano Ronaldo was not on the list of the best goals. Well, where without the newly-made champion of the Old World ?!

Criro's masterpiece happened in the same match as Zoltan Gero's goal. The score then was already 2:1 in favor of Hungary, and Ronaldo restored equality just in time. His teammate executed a cross into the penalty area, which the three-time winner of the Golden Ball closed very gracefully with his heel, sending the ball right into the net of the Hungarian goal.

Raja Nainggolan (Belgium)

Crazy in both beauty and execution, the ball was scored by Belgian national team player Raja Nainggolan. The midfielder took full responsibility for the game of his compatriots in the quarter-finals against Wales and in the 13th minute of the ball expressed this in a “terrible cannon”: the ball flew from 25 meters exactly into the far “nine”.

It is a pity, however, that, as in the case of Shaqiri, the goal did not help the team to go further: later it was the Welsh who turned out to be stronger, scoring beautiful goals as well.

Hal Robson-Kanu (Wales)

By the way, oh beautiful goals Wales. In order to somehow dilute the extravaganza of long-range strikes in the ranking of the best goals, the ball scored by Welsh striker Hal Robson-Kahnu was included in this list. It was, of course, in the match with Belgium, and the fact that he became victorious adds value to the goal.

At the 55th minute, with the score 1:1, Aaron Ramsey made a pass into the penalty area, and Robson-Kanu, instead of letting the ball pass further, took the projectile, processed it and left three (!) defenders out of work in one movement. Further, it was already a matter of technology that Hal has: Courtois capitulated, and the Belgians flew out of Euro 2016.

On Sunday, July 10, the European Championship in France ended. on the 109th minute of the final match between the teams of France and Portugal marked the triumph of the wards Fernando Santos at the tournament.

In total, 108 goals were scored in 51 matches, which is 2.12 goals per game. On average, referees recorded a goal every 44 minutes. 21 goals were scored in the interval from the 46th to the 60th minute, 20 - from the 31st to the 45th and 19 - from the 76th to the 90th.

Most of the goals in the assets of the hosts of the tournament, the French team - 13. 10 goals were scored by the players of the Wales team, 9 - by the Belgian team. At the same time, three own goals were recorded at Euro 2016 - their teammates upset their goalkeepers Sweden, Hungary and Wales.

Group Tournament

The opening match at Euro 2016 ended with a magnificent goal from the rising leader of the French national team and the future idol of the entire French people Dimitri Paye.

Goal Lukaku against the Irish was made possible thanks to the chic combination of his partners in the Belgian national team. Pay attention to how Alderweireld took the ball off the curb in his own half of the field, Azar ran away from the defender, and he Romelu coolly dealt with the keeper of rivals.

Real Madrid leader shot Luka Modrica and the Croatian national team brought Ante Cacic's wards starting win at the European Championship. In addition, he gave a chance to rejoice at one of their devoted fans, who ran onto the field to hug his favorites.

Accurate shot Zoltan Gera opened an account in one of the most scoring matches European Championship between the teams of Hungary and Portugal, which eventually ended with a score of 3:3.

Heel goal against Gabor Kiraly the leader of the Portuguese national team Cristiano Ronaldo took off his "vow of not scoring" at Euro 2016. As it was thought then, the CR7 did it very late, as time showed - just right. What happened next everyone already knows.

1/8 finals

According to many, the blow Shachiri scissors from the penalty area line - best goal at the tournament. It is quite possible to agree with this opinion, because you will not see this every day. It's a pity he didn't help the Swiss team reach the quarterfinals.

Team defense leader Joachim Loew at this Euro Jerome Boateng in the eighth minute of the 1/8 final match against Slovakia, he scored his first goal for the German national team. For this, the Bayern player needed 64 fights for the Manshaft.

1/4 finals

Raja Nainggolan opened the scoring with his goal in the match against Wales, thus confirming the status of his team's favorite in the meeting ...

... however, as time has shown, this goal from Hal Robeson-Kanu favorites do not always justify this status.

1/2 finals

Closes our selection with a header from Cristiano Ronaldo in the semi-finals against the Welsh. Just for an incredible flight in the style of Superman, just for the most powerful blow, just for dragging his team to the final, where the partners have already managed to win the Henri Delaunay Cup for the injured CR7.

Prepared by Alexander CHEPILKO

The 2016 European Championship was the first in which 24 teams took part at once. And I will say right away that the change did not benefit the tournament.

European Football Championship 2016

  • Tournament hosts: France.
  • Dates: June 10 - July 10.
  • Number of participants: 24.
  • Champion: Portugal.
  • Top scorer - Antoine Griezmann (France) -6 goals.

Qualifying Tournament

The main sensation of the qualifying tournament with a minus sign was, which took only fourth place in its qualifying group and did not even get into the play-offs.

The Serbian national team was an unpleasant surprise – the team, made up of very decent players, also did not hit the joints. Of course, the not entirely unambiguous UEFA sanctions that followed after the match with Albania played their role, anyway, two victories for such a team is too little.

The Russian team did it again: two defeats from the Austrians, a home draw with the Moldovans, but, in the end, the team pulled together and went straight to the final part from the second place, ahead of the Swedish team.

Play-offs

  • Ukraine - Slovenia 2:0 and 1:1.
  • Sweden - Denmark 2:1 and 2:2.
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina - Ireland 1:1 and 0:2.
  • Norway - Hungary 0:1 and 1:2.

In the play-offs, the confrontation between Ukraine and Slovenia turned out to be the most dramatic. After a confident home victory in Kyiv, the Ukrainians conceded the second leg in the debut. Yarmolenko was able to level the score only in the 8th added minute, and before that one more goal from the hosts could have sent the match into overtime.

Final part of Euro 2016

The expansion of the number of participants has led to a record number Debutants - 5 at once, plus the Austrian team, which for the first time overcame the qualifying barrier (the Austrians got on the rights of the hosts).

The format of the tournament was similar to that used at the World Championships, when 24 teams participated in them - 6 groups, followed by 12 teams that took 1-2 places and 4 best teams from among those who took third place.

As a result of the draw, the distribution was as follows:

  1. Group "A": France, Switzerland, Romania, Albania.
  2. Group "B": England, Slovakia, Russia, Wales.
  3. Group "C": Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Northern Ireland.
  4. Group "D": Spain, Croatia, Czech Republic, Turkey.
  5. Group "E": Italy, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden.
  6. Group "F": Portugal, Austria, Iceland, Hungary.

Symbols of Euro 2016

  • The official ball of the championship was the Beau Jeu, which means "Beautiful game", made in the colors of the French tricolor.
  • The song of the famous French musician David Guetta "This One's For You" became the official anthem of the championship. At the opening ceremony, he performed it together with the Swedish singer Zara Larsson.

  • The mascot of Euro 2016 was a boy superhero in a French national team shirt, named "Super Victor".
  • A series of two-euro commemorative coins was issued specially for the European Championship.

Group stage

I will say right away that the group stage was not impressive. Abundance, to put it mildly, not the most strong teams, made it possible for the favorites not to strain too much, and the probability of leaving the group from 3rd place led to the fact that many teams sought, first of all, not to lose, not really thinking about winning.

Group A

The French national team played hard, it was clear that the players were under pressure from the home walls and the expectations of the fans associated with them. IN starting match against Romania, Dimitri Payet scored the winning goal only in the 89th minute, and the Albanians were completely squeezed in stoppage time.

Switzerland did not show itself in any particular way, but minimum win over the Albanians and two draws allowed her to finish second in the group. An incomprehensible metamorphosis took place with - the team fought with dignity against France, took a point in the match with Switzerland, but then limply and completely on business lost to the Albanian team. Although the victory in that match brought the Romanians to the 1/2 finals.

As for the Albanian national team, apart from diligence and fighting qualities, the team did not show itself in any way. But at this Euro this team was not alone. It is only strange that we are still surprised at the decline in the quality of football at the European Championship.

Group B

Before the start of the tournament, I thought that the key match for our team would be the second round match against Slovakia. With the British, one could count on points, if only because they had never won the opening matches of the European championships.

I couldn’t believe in a victory over Wales - physically powerful teams have always been problematic for, and now Wales has not only fighters, but world-class players in the person of Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale. But the Slovakian team, as I thought, could be beaten - the composition of the Russian team still allowed us to hope for it.

As a result, I lost three times with our favorite team as a forecaster: a draw with the British was obtained, as they say, not thanks to, but in spite of, we lost to the Slovaks completely on business, and from Wales we suffered a crushing defeat.

In general, about the game, so I don’t want to repeat myself. Well, at least the fans were pleased - in mass fights with the British, ours, judging by media reports, won.

And the group was quite deservedly won by the Wales team. Competent and trained team, which includes not only Bale and Ramsey. Goaltender Hennessy, team captain Ashley Williams, linebacker Joe Allen are all top notch players.

By the way, the British could well be left with two points, because their victory over Wales was achieved despite the course of the match, just who replaced Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge managed to be at the right time in the right place.

Group C

Disappointed her fans. In the opening match, the team gave a real fight to the Germans, who were rescued several times by Manuel Neuer. The outcome of the match was unclear until the very end - after all, Bastian Schweinsteiger scored the second goal in stoppage time.

However, after that, the Ukrainian footballers mediocrely lost to both the Northern Ireland and the Poles, becoming the only team that never managed to hit the opponents' gates.

In this group, the costs of the idea of expanding teams began to be clearly seen. Northern Irish football players for the match of the third round with Germany came out with the expectation of a minimal defeat. It gave them zero goal difference with three points scored, which made their chances of qualifying from the group quite high. With the previous format of the tournament, this was simply impossible.

In the end, it turned out that way - the German national team won 1-0, and the Northern Irish goalkeeper Michael McGovern made an incredible number of saves. However, the Germans played without much spark, as if in training. The Polish national team played very rationally - two minimal clean sheets and a tactical goalless draw in the second round against Germany.

Group D

Place Team 1 2 3 4 IN H P M ABOUT
1 Croatia 2:1 1:0 2:2 2 1 0 5-3 7
2 Spain 1:2 3:0 1:0 2 0 1 5-2 6
3 Turkey 0:1 0:3 2:0 1 0 2 2-4 3
4 Czech 2:2 0:1 0:2 0 1 2 2-5 1

In this group, favorites Spain and Croatia scored predictable, though not easy, victories over the Czech Republic and Turkey, respectively.

The Czechs narrowly missed out on a draw, with Iniesta's Pique scoring in the 87th minute, while the Croats won thanks to Luka Modric's phenomenal strike from outside the penalty area. The anger of Turkish fans was caused by midfielder Ozan Tufan, who, at the moment Modric struck, instead of covering the Croat, straightened his hair.

In the second round, the Spaniards defeated the Turkish team 3-0, which actually deprived them of the opportunity to reach the playoffs, and the Czech team was able to catch a point in the match with Croatia thanks to a penalty kick converted by Tomas Necid in the last minute of the match.

In the last round, the Croats won a strong-willed victory over the Spaniards and took first place in the group, and the Turkish team was able to defeat the Czech team, although this did not help the Turks in the end.

Group E

In the first round, the Italian team played great, having far from the strongest squad. In a match with the promoted Belgians, he completely outplayed his counterpart Mark Wilmots. The Italians played clearly, it was clear that each player knows what to do. Most of the Belgians' shots were blocked by the defenders, and where the ball reached the goal, Buffon stepped in. And the counterattacks of the Italian team turned out to be just exemplary.

Having defeated the Swedes 1-0 in the second match (Eder scored a goal in the 88th minute), the Italian team secured the first place in the group ahead of schedule. The Belgians, having won two victories, became the second.

As for the national teams of Sweden and Ireland, they were initially predicted to fight for third place. Basically, these two mediocre teams somewhat similar, but there was one difference - the Swedes have Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

But at this particular tournament, he didn’t help the team in any way, and the Irish were lucky with the tournament layout - in the last round they were opposed by unmotivated Italy, and Antonio Conte let the main players rest. was able to take advantage of this - Robbie Brady scored the only goal in the 85th minute.

Group F

In this group, the situation was, regrettably, the most confusing, and contrary to expectations, the favorites of the group, the Portuguese, were at the bottom of the table and had a great time qualifying tournament Austrians.

Already in the first round, Iceland was able to recoup the match with Portugal, and Hungary confidently outplayed the Austrian team. In the second round, Hungary and Iceland play 1:1, and Portugal and Austria 0:0, and 10 minutes before the end of the match, Cristiano Ronaldo hit the post from the penalty spot.

Thus, before the last round, one thing was clear - Hungary goes to the playoffs, although it is not clear from what place. And the tour gave two breathtaking matches - the Icelandic team snatched victory from the Austrians in the fourth added minute, and Hungary led the match with Portugal three times, but they equalized the score three times. Balazs Dzhudzhak and Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace each, whose heel goal was simply a masterpiece.

Summary table of third place teams

1/8 finals

Poland - Switzerland 1:1 (1:0, 0:1, extra time 0:0), on penalties 5:4

A stubborn and difficult match of equal opponents took place with some advantage of the Poles, especially noticeable in the first half. They opened the account, and Cuba Blaszczykowski did it.

In the second half, the game did not change dramatically, only the players of the Polish national team began to play more carefully. The Swiss were rescued by the individual skill of Xherdan Shaqiri - he scored with an excellent overhand shot.

And in the penalty shoot-out everything was decided by Granita Xhaka's miss - the rest of the strikers were accurate.

Wales - Northern Ireland 1:0 (0:0)

It was a match between two typically British teams, in the Premier League, due to the abundance of foreigners, such games no longer happen: a tough power struggle, sheds, tackles, a minimum of thought and creativity.

In the end, everything was decided by the higher individual skill of the Welsh players - Aaron Ramsey threw Gareth Bale into the gap, he shot hard and accurately into the center of the penalty area, and another Gareth - Northern Irish defender Macauley cut the ball into his own net.

Portugal - Croatia 1:0 in extra. time

The Croats were the clear favorites of this fight, but it was also assumed that the Portuguese should still wake up. However, the match did not live up to expectations - the first half could be easily overslept, the second was a little more interesting, but there were no shots on target in 90 minutes of the match!

At the end of extra time, the old football rule came into play – “if you don’t score, you get scored”. First, Perisic hit the post, and in the response attack after Cristiano's strike, Kurezma played on the rebound - 1:0 in favor of Portugal.

France - Ireland 2:1 (0:1)

Before the match, there was no talk of an easy victory for the French - they looked too pale in the group stage. In addition, the Irish, who, by the way, often mentioned scandalous match between these teams in 2009 could do what they know how to destroy, hoping to bring the match to a penalty shootout.

Moreover, the beginning for the Irish team was better than you can imagine. Already in the second minute, Bobby Brady opened the scoring from an undisputed penalty. The fact that the French failed to score in the first half promised a very interesting second half.

But then Antoine Griezmann said a weighty word - in the 58th and 61st minutes he hit the gates of Darren Randolph twice, and then forced Shane Duffy to foul on himself, who received a fully deserved red card.

After that, the match could be safely completed - with all due respect to the Irish team, it is not capable of pulling out such meetings in its current state.

By the way, in this match, Hugo Luris led the French team to the field with the captain's armband for the 55th time, breaking the record of his mentor Didier Deschamps.

Germany - Slovakia 3:0 (2:0)

If the Germans played the matches of the group stage almost in a training mode, then here they were already playing seriously, although, according to my feelings, not at full power.

In principle, the Slovaks had no chance - Boateng scored in the 8th minute, in the 43rd minute Mario Gomez actually made the second half meaningless, and in the 63rd minute Daxler set the final score. Plus Ozil missed a penalty.

Belgium - Hungary 4:0 (1:0)

And in this match, the score should not be misleading - after Alderweireld's goal, which happened at the beginning of the match, the score was 1-0 until the 78th minute, and only at the end of the match did the Belgians bring the matter to a rout.

And before that, she had chances to level the score. However, to call the victory of Belgium accidental, or, even more so, not deserved, the language will not turn.

Italy - Spain 2:0 (1:0)

Bravo, Italy! Always admired how this team has to play with quite limited resources. Yes, the level of Buffon and defenders is beyond doubt, but tell me, which of the Italian midfielders and strikers found a place in the current Spanish national team?

Well, perhaps only Daniel de Rossi, and even then not at the core. But the Italians won absolutely on business. They opened the scoring in the 33rd minute – Chiellini played on rebound after a set piece. By the way, this was the first goal conceded by Spain in the playoffs of a major tournament since 2006.

Goalkeepers shone in the second half - first, David de Gea left the Spaniards in the game, eliminating Eder's one-on-one exit, and then the inimitable Gigi Buffon saved his team from the right goal at least three times. Well, in stoppage time, Graziano Pelle makes the victory of the Italians more convincing.

So the current European champions resigned, losing to the team that was defeated in the final of the last European championship.

Iceland - England 2:1 (2:1)

In this match, I was desperately rooting for the Icelandic team. Why? Firstly, they, unlike most other teams that lack stars from the sky, went to the Euro not by increasing the number of participants, but bypassing the teams of Holland and Turkey in the selection.

Secondly, already at the championship, the Icelanders demonstrated an unbending spirit and will to win, showing that they are not afraid of anyone. Thirdly, to be honest, I don't like the England team. Not English football, not players, namely the national team.

This team exudes snobbery and a sense of superiority a mile away. And when it comes down to it, England cannot beat the USA, Algeria, Slovakia, Costa Rica and the like. By the way, do you remember when the British defeated a really strong opponent in the finals of the world and European championships? No?

I will say - in 2002, Argentina due to the only goal scored by Beckham from the penalty spot. Isn't it enough for the "eternal" favorite?

So the Icelandic team pointed out to the “three lions” their real place in the coordinate system of world football. Already in the 4th minute, the Icelanders answered Rooney's goal from a penalty spot with two even before the expiration of the first twenty minutes, and then brought the matter to a logical and undeniable victory.

And the Icelandic commentator has become a real star of the Internet.

Quarterfinals

Portugal - Poland 1:1 (1:1, 0:0, extra time 0:0), on penalties 5:3

Robert Lewandowski finally scored at the Euro, and this goal was the fastest goal of the tournament - 1 minute and 40 seconds have passed since the start of the match.

The Portuguese answered back in the first half and also not with a simple goal. This goal was the "youngest" in the championship - Renat Sanchez, who scored it, was 18 years and 36 days old.

Toward the end of the match, the teams became more cautious, and in extra time, they actually didn’t even think about attacking. The Poles failed to win the second penalty shootout in a row, Cuba Blaszczykowski summed it up, but the Portuguese reached the semi-finals of the European Championship without winning a single match in regular time.

Wales - Belgium 3:1 (1:1)

This match was one of the best in the championship. The Belgians were the favorites and already in the 13th minute, Roma midfielder Raja Nainggolan opened the scoring with a stunning beauty and accuracy with a long-range shot.

In the middle of the first half, the captain of the Welsh, Ashley Williams, plays like a captain and, having come to the corner, equalizes the score. And in the second half, Wales scored twice, and this was done by players who played in the clubs of the Championship - Hal Robson-Kanu represented Reading, and Sam Vokes - Burnley.

And the "golden" generation of Belgians need to do something urgently if they want to win something. And then they beat Ireland and Hungary without any problems, but when it comes to meeting with an organized team made up of players of a decent level, it turns out embarrassment.

But in terms of the originality of hairstyles and the brightness of tattoos, the players of the Belgian national team will give odds to any team. The guys love themselves, oh how they love ...

Germany - Italy 1:1 (0:0, 1:1, extra time 0:0), on penalties 6:5

Before the match, I was surprised to learn that. And here is the first victory, however, obtained only in a penalty shoot-out, but no less valuable for that.

For me, it was generally best match championship. The highest skill of the players, excellent tactical skills, speed, original solutions, coaching confrontation - all this gave an unforgettable spectacle.

Well, it will be difficult to forget the penalty shoot-out in general. Of the first 10 hits, 6 did not reach the target! The Germans did not score Muller, Ozil and Schweinsteiger - the masters of this business, while the Italians scored the fifth penalty Bonucci, who had already converted a penalty kick in regular time of the match, but Neuer repelled not the easiest blow.

Before the first miss, the teams hit four hits, until Manuel Neuer parried Matteo Darmian's shot.

France - Iceland 5:2 (4:0)

The defeat of the Icelandic team looked unexpected, but if you look at it, it was still natural. Miracles must come to an end sometime, and the Icelandic team left all their strength, primarily emotional, in the match with England.

The French, on the contrary, added from match to match, gaining self-confidence. But still, the Icelanders did not deserve 0:4 on the basis of the first dime. To their credit, they were able to win the second half of the match and left the Euro with their heads held high.

Semi-finals

Portugal - Wales 2:0 (0:0)

Before the match, the topic was actively discussed: “Ronaldo vs. Bale”, but it was still a Portugal vs. Wales match, although Cristiano decided everything.

The Wales team suffered one loss, but what! Due to overkill yellow cards Aaron Ramsey missed the game, and without him, the Welsh attack was reduced to the individual actions of Gareth Bale and standards.

However, the Portuguese did not shine either, and until the 50th minute it was an absolutely equal match, and then Cristiano Ronaldo jumped higher than anyone when drawing a corner at the Hennessy goal. Three minutes later, the captain of the Portuguese did not hit the gate very well, but Nani put his foot in hockey.

After that, it became clear that the Welsh would not win back.

France - Germany 2:0 (1:0)

In fact, the match was the first serious test for the hosts. Romania, Albania, Switzerland, Ireland, Iceland - the list of opponents of the French team before the semi-finals was not impressive.

The French tried to stun the opponent, but Joachim Loew does not have the team to give in to anyone. The Germans quickly laid siege to the opponent, took control of the game and dominated the field. But with the completion of the attack, things were not going well for them.

The goal in the last minute of the first half for the French came out of virtually nothing - Bastian Schweinsteiger played extremely clumsily in the fight for the riding ball in his own penalty area and the ball hit his hand. Penalty from the category "at the discretion of the referee". Nicola Rizzoli saw a foul, and Antoine Griezmann was accurate.

The second ball in the 72nd minute, the Germans also brought themselves, having started a pass in their own penalty area. As a result, the French took the ball away, Pogba hung, Neuer played poorly on the way out and Griezmann scored already into an empty net.

After that, the Germans went ahead, had several opportunities, but failed to score. In my opinion, the German national team has become a victim of their own confidence, or even self-confidence. Take the situation with the second goal of the French national team - hit Hevedas the ball to hell, nothing would have happened, but he wanted to keep it in a very difficult situation.

And the real Germany was seen only in the first half of the match with Slovakia, in the game with Italy and the last 15 minutes of the semi-final match. The rest of the playing time for the Germans was something like training.

2016 European Championship final

Portugal 1-0 France time

Most considered the hosts to be the favorites of the match, but personally I was rooting for the Portuguese. I won’t say that I’m a fan of this team, it’s just that Portugal reached the final, which is called with sweat and blood, while the French got there almost automatically - at first they were frankly lucky with their rivals, and then the Germans gave two goals in the semifinals.

Yes, and of the three titles of the French team (world champions and two-time European champions), two were won at home arenas, and the third home title, in my subjective opinion, is still too much.

The match began with a vile act by Dimitri Payet, who deliberately drove into Cristiano Ronaldo's knee, the very one that he intensively treated a few months before the tournament. And in the middle of the first half, the captain and leader of the Portuguese national team was forced to leave the field.

But Fernando Santos has created a team that will play even after the loss of its leader. It is clear that it became easier for the French to defend themselves, but it did not become easier for them to attack after the departure of Criro.

Moments began to appear at the end of the game, when the teams were already tired, and Gignac had the most faithful one, whose shot from the goalkeeper's corner already in stoppage time was taken over by the Portuguese goal post.

The fate of the match was decided by the forward of the French “Lille” Eder Lopes, who came on as a substitute at the end of regular time. In the 109th minute, he received the ball not far from the penalty area, moved forward, pushing the defender back, and from 23 meters he irresistibly shot Hugo Lloris into the bottom corner of the goal.

So the Portuguese team won its first title and did it in the same style that the Greek team did 12 years ago when the championship was held just in Portugal.
