The layout of the seats in the zenith arena. New stadium, new bridge, new experiences

The Gazprom Arena stadium in St. Petersburg, better known as the Zenit Arena, was officially opened in 2016. The main architect of the building is the Japanese Kisho Kurokawa.

They could not decide on the name of the sports facility for a long time, at first they wanted to call it the Krestovsky stadium (after the name of the island where it is located), then more popular ones appeared - the Zenit Arena and the St. Petersburg stadium. The final version - Gazprom Arena - was chosen only in December 2018 - 11 years after the start of construction. Over the years, residents of the Northern capital and tourists have gotten used to calling the stadium in their own way, so today you can hear different variants titles.

Even before the opening of the Gazprom Arena, it became famous as the most expensive stadium in Russia. Indeed, a fabulous sum was spent on the construction of the object. According to various sources, the cost of the Zenith Arena is more than 1 billion dollars. Over the years of construction, the stadium has earned the notoriety of the main long-term construction of the country, the cost of which has only increased every year. However, in preparation for the 2018 World Cup, the lease was completed.

Characteristics of the stadium "Gazprom Arena":

  • Capacity - up to 68,000 people;
  • The area of all premises is 287.68 thousand square meters. meters;
  • Height - 9 floors (75 meters), including pylons - 110 meters;
  • Square football field– 9 840 sq. meters.

Today Gazprom Arena is one of the best venues in the city, which is suitable for both sports and music events. The retractable roof of the stadium allows the facility to be used in any weather. The infrastructure of the building makes it possible to organize events of any scale. It offers tenants premises of various sizes, a catering service, a playground and experienced staff.

The most significant events stadium "Gazprom Arena" in St. Petersburg:

  • Football tournament "Confederations Cup - 2017",
  • FIFA World Cup - 2018.

In 2019, the arena hosts UEFA Europa League matches. Of the musical events, the most memorable was the concert of the Leningrad group at the Gazprom Arena, held in October 2018.

Schedule of matches of the stadium "Gazprom Arena"

All year round the stadium hosts sport competitions various levels. Of course, the most striking event was the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Today, Gazprom Arena is the base of FC Zenit - home matches of the most popular and beloved in St. Petersburg are held here football team. In winter, ice hockey competitions are held in the arena. The calendar of games for the 2018/2019 season is available on the Gazprom Arena official website.

Scheme "Zenith Arena"

Large projects are always of no less great interest. Many, not particularly understanding, begin to scold them. It's the easiest! Others, turning on their heads a little, admire engineering and technical solutions. Did not escape this fate and the stadium under construction "Zenith Arena" in St. Petersburg. The project is complex, expensive, but insanely interesting in technical terms. And some of the solutions applied at the stadium are simply unique.

I happened to spend one day at the construction site and was surprised many interesting moments more than once. But first, a little history.

From 1950 to 2006 in St. Petersburg on Krestovsky Island there was a stadium named after. Kirov. It was one of the largest stadiums in the world - it was the largest in the entire Soviet Union, Russia and Europe.

Last official match on that field was played on July 6, 2006, and by the end of 2006 the stadium was dismantled in order to begin construction of a new and almost the most expensive stadium in the world on the same site. The project budget is approximately equal to 35 billion rubles.

And the construction began...

During 2007, the pile field was completed and the excavation. In 2008, the project was ready, it passed the state examination, but due to various conflicts, construction was stopped.

In December 2008, construction work was resumed. But already in December 2009, after checking the stadium project for compliance with FIFA requirements, it turned out that, according to a number of criteria, the stadium already under construction does not meet these standards. The main complaints were made about the configuration of the stands (ensuring comfortable visibility, the location of hatches) and the layout of the premises under the stands, which were divided by thick walls into small compartments. Halls and open spaces inside were practically absent. To correct the identified shortcomings in April 2010, a new general designer was involved - Mosproekt-4, who has extensive experience in design sports facilities(for example, the Lokomotiv stadium in Moscow).

The layout of the premises under the stands, the configuration of the stands were brought in accordance with the FIFA requirements for stadiums of this level. Large halls and free spaces appeared, places were found for placing additional cafes, bars at all levels of the stadium. In connection with the changes, construction was again stopped in December 2009 and resumed in full in August 2010.

Since 2008, construction has been carried out by Inzhtransstroy, which is part of the structure of Transstroy.

The new stadium will host World Cup matches in 2018. Including the semi-finals. The final the match will take place in Luzhniki. It is planned that by the time the construction works are completed, the stadium will become one of the most technologically advanced and perfect sports facilities in Europe. There will be no athletics tracks on it and it will be intended only for football matches.

Let's take a look at this marvel of engineering. I will reveal several technical solutions at once, which are worth focusing on:
- roll-out football field;
- a huge reinforced concrete bridge with a span of 100 meters on which the tribune is located;
- retractable roof

And the stoppage of construction went only to the benefit. During this time, the pile field has stabilized and now it no longer gives sediment. There is another story connected with him. The fact is that the first general contractor ("Avant") overdid it a little with piles, and they turned out to be more than necessary. As a result, the bearing capacity of the field turned out to be twice as much as it was planned for the project. There, in general, a dark story happened with them ... But then, when changing the project, this played into the hands - new project the stadium and all the changes perfectly fit into the limits of weights and loads. Only it was necessary to strengthen the grillages under the stadium bowl.

Well, enough introductions, it's time to watch!

1. Beautiful view from the Primorsky district. The stadium itself resembles a flying saucer. By the way, it has a specially aerodynamic shape, since here it was especially necessary to take into account wind loads.

2. The stadium will host all the main cultural events and concerts of St. Petersburg. And imagine some rock concert at this stadium...

3. The negative angle of the facade, although beautiful, imposes special standards in design and calculations. Also, nothing should fall off from this facade in case of fire to ensure the evacuation of spectators. In general, the closest attention is paid to fire regulations and safety at the stadium.

4. In terms of area, this is the largest stadium in Eastern Europe.

5. Due to the fact that the weather conditions in St. Petersburg are unfavorable for the growth of grass in winter, and the city is the northernmost of the Premier League, the authors of the project decided architectural solution, in which the field of the stadium will extend beyond its limits, and the roof will be retractable to cover the field during bad weather and the cold season. The field itself will live on the street, blown by the sea wind. In cold weather, it will be in the greenhouse. But, most importantly, the natural lawn will receive the necessary sunlight for its growth. And inside the stadium, already without a football field, you can hold concerts, exhibitions and other public events without fear of damaging the lawn.

6. The original design of the stadium was made of German steel. But then they decided to save money and make everything from reinforced concrete. But we faced the fact that the stadium structures became much thicker when concrete was used and the architectural design did not fit into the existing structure. I had to make outrageous reinforcement of structures, but it still turned out cheaper than using imported steel. Now the bowl of the stadium is completely ready, and the metal structures of the roof are made by a third.

7. An unusual method was used to install 22,000 tons of metal roof structures. Temporary support structures are usually created, and installation is carried out on them. But this method does not provide the necessary accuracy and, most importantly, it requires two 700 ton cranes. And they didn't want to fit in the stadium.

8. Therefore, we decided to mount all segments of the roof on the slipway with tower cranes in one place, and then move them to the design position along the guide rails. This method is more complicated and requires more temporary structures, but in the end it gives the highest assembly accuracy and time savings.

.::clickable::.

9. So far, it is difficult to see what will happen in the heap of building structures, but renderings allow it.

10. Stadium in football configuration.

11. The decision was very ambiguous and it met with many opponents. But the beginning of the installation of the roof showed that this is the right way.

12. Each temporary structure column has a unique design and bowl attachment. Some columns are placed directly on the stands, but most pierce them to the required mark.

13. The highlight of the stadium is the bridge, which ensures the field is rolled out onto the street. Over 100 meters flat floor span! This is a unique prestressed concrete structure. The maximum standard deflection of the lower bridge slab along its central axis (in the middle of the span) is 210 mm, and the calculated one is 87 mm. On this bridge there is a stand with a fan sector (this means jumping and other football joys) and part of the roof. In fact, it is like a piece of a pie that is cut off from the rest of the structure and lives its own life.

14. There will be no bars, restaurants or other facilities inside the stands in this sector. Only rigidity diaphragms and small rooms.

15. Now the bridge is completely ready. No, it's totally amazing. It would be nice if it was a vault, I still understand. But a flat floor with such tolerances... Fantastic.

16. And this is the design of the football field. Its weight is about 7.8 thousand tons. Initially, it was supposed that the structure would be pushed under the stadium by hydraulics, but this is slow, complicated and not reliable. As a result, this part was also redesigned - the entire football field will rise slightly on an air cushion, removing some of the load on the rollers. And then electric motors move the field for several hours. Unlike half a day in the case of hydraulic pushers.

17. On the north stand there is a slipway where roof segments are assembled.

.::clickable::.

18. Another feature of the stadium will be a single control center. All information about the stadium, about the movement of people, about the congestion of highways, etc. will flow here.

19. A video surveillance system will be installed at the stadium, which allows real-time tracking of any spectator from the entrance security cordons to his place on the podium. The system immediately identifies his ticket, portrait and his track record as a fan.

20. Under the roof there will be a smoke removal and fire extinguishing system. All this is, of course, unique. In the case of a fire extinguishing system, it can act very locally. If someone carried a fire (suddenly) and lit it, then the system recognizes the place (accordingly we calculate who it is), a water cloud is created around the place from sprayers, and water is supplied from above from the fire hose to this person. Full space, in short.

21. Reconstructed fountain, which was near the Kirov stadium.

22. But, it's time to go up to the slipway. See the slanted gray thing? This is the pylon on which the roof will rest, in addition to the walls. Farm under the pylon - a temporary structure for the period of installation of the roof.

23. Primorsky district.

24. Not all of the entrance group has been restored, but partially: the pavilions themselves have been restored, and the fountain and staircase have been reconstructed.

25. Now the first two segments are assembled and are slowly moving to their place in the south stand. But due to the fact that the bridge was recently completed there, now we have to wait until the guide rails are mounted, along which the segments move.

26. Some kind of grandiose kingdom of truss structures and metal.

.::clickable::.

27. On the slipway, the segments are assembled with the highest precision. Then they are prepared for transportation, where they are joined to the already finished and installed roof segments. In fact, it will be a bagel. And in the center of the sliding segment of the roof.

.::clickable::.

28. Without reading below, try to guess how the segments slide along the guides?

29. Pylon close-up. Many questions were raised by his negative angle of work. It would be more logical to make it positive, that is, it would then look outward. But modern methods of calculation and modeling make it possible to implement very bold projects.

30. Initially, the roof rested only on these pylons, but in the end they came to the conclusion that it was too risky and decided to transfer part of the load to the stadium bowl.

31. Cardan, which transfers the forces from the cables to the segment. The fact is that the segment moves along a curve, and the force from the jack is applied only directly.

32. For the installation of the roof, two "rail" tracks were built.

.::clickable::.

33. Jack. Surprisingly very humble.

34. It was decided to build the Novokrestovskaya metro station on the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya line, which by 2017-2018 will become an intermediate station between the Primorskaya and Ulitsa Savushkina stations. They say that even this year will begin work.

35. And here is the answer about friction. Sliding is provided by sheets of fluoroplast.

36. Just put a new one on and the structure weighing from 621 to 1113 tons slides like clockwork.

37. The beauty of joints and bolts.

38. Construction of the Western High-Speed Diameter. By the way, around the stadium there will be parking for only 4000 places. With a stadium capacity of 68,000 seats, this means everyone will have to travel by public transport.

39. And some renderings of the stadium. Look how beautiful it will be.

Lastly little story with the title. The fact is that the stadium does not have an official name. It has yet to be approved by the Toponymic Commission. And the name "Zenith Arena" stuck with light hand builders.

On May 7, I happened to visit the second "test" game of Zenit at a brand new stadium on Krestovsky Island. It was notable for the fact that, in addition to the stadium itself, the organizers also tested a scheme for delivering fans to the games of the June Confederations Cup. The metro near the arena will be completed only by next summer, so for now the routes are as follows:

  1. From the metro station "Krestovsky Island" through the Primorsky Victory Park. A little less than 2km on foot, 25 minutes.

  2. From the Staraya Derevnya and Chernaya Rechka metro stations, take trams 19 and 48, get off at the intersection of Yakhtennaya and Savushkina streets and walk across the new Yacht Bridge to the stadium. From the stop to the entrance groups about 1.7 km, 20 minutes on foot. I walked along this route, it was interesting to see the trams and the new bridge!

  3. All sorts of exotic options with free shuttle buses from different metro stations. I didn’t even try to deal with this, because the concepts of reliability and speed, in my understanding, are incompatible with mass events.

Scheme for a better understanding of the terrain

Corner of Yahtennaya and Savushkin. There is still a whole hour before the start of the match, but the fans are already actively pulling up to the stadium. However, today there is increased interest in the neighboring park of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg - there, in honor of the holidays, camps of military equipment, old and new, were located, as well as various military-patriotic movements were arranged. I didn't make it, and now I regret it a little.

I have nowhere to hurry yet, so I linger at the bus stop and look at the trams carrying the fans. This couple is just going to pick up spectators. There is nothing special in the first tram, a new, but already relatively common product of the Ust-Katav Carriage Works. These began to appear in the center in 2013, on the revived 3rd route, and now they are slowly spreading around the city.

The next type after him is already more interesting, this is the Tver "Vityaz". I have never met such people before, but it is not surprising, they have been used in the city only since this winter, and even in those areas that I rarely visit. This is confirmed by the side number, which is easily identified by a guest from another tram fleet.

Now about the sad. New trams are very good, but the fact that they are specially driven "for the game" on these routes leaves a double impression. On the one hand, it turns out to be a clear demonstration of the tram as an independent urban transport (not just the metro!), fast, modern, convenient and capable of digesting large flows of people. On the other hand, there is a bitter aftertaste of window dressing, since the next day the Vityazi and other invited guests will again be replaced by the old LVS-86. I hope that at least by 2018 they will be able to complete these routes with normal transport on a permanent basis. And replace the paths at least at the intersection with highways :)

I finish with transport and set off towards the stadium, along the odd side of Yacht Street. A lot of cars! Surprisingly, I thought that no one would remember much about the new bridge, and there would be few people in its vicinity. No matter how! Not only pedestrians, but also motorists decided to take advantage of the alternative route. The logic is clear - "I'll park at the Carousel / Piterland / on Yachtnaya / near the park, and then quickly walk across the bridge." But there were much more such tricky ones than parking spaces, which are already in short supply in the vicinity of the park on weekends. A local transport collapse has formed, so I advise motorists to leave the car away from Yachtnaya. With which, after the game, it will be oh how difficult to leave later ...

There is still trouble with the improvement on this side of Yachtnaya Street, at some point the sidewalk ends and the trampled "lawn" begins, after which you need to squeeze to the bridge between the construction site and the road.

Sufferers find parking. Motorists are driven by traffic police, the flow of people was organized by volunteers, guys in red vests. But what the representative of the Parking of St. Petersburg in gray was doing there remained a mystery to me.

Made it to the bridge! On May 7, it was opened to the public for the first time, and one must understand that this is still a test mode. In the future, lighting, road markings and other decor are expected. So far, only the essentials are ready. Lawns have just been marked with fresh earth :) This is not the case, of course, nothing good will grow in such soil, especially if you do not cover them with fences from crowds of fans in the future.

The atmosphere of a football holiday, just for the sake of it sometimes it is worth getting out to the game!

View of Yacht street. So-so view :). I wonder what impression foreigners will have about St. Petersburg after traveling to the stadium by this route? Soviet panel houses look dumb, but the views from the bridge compensate for them. Or not? What do you think?

Uncle football is indifferent, he has fishing today!

And in the park there is a festive movement. While walking across the bridge, the amphibious landing began, with shots, a smoke screen and other special effects!

And this is Krestovsky Island, its westernmost part. The island was slightly expanded towards the bay to make room for the WHSD and the future metro station. Blue fences in the distance - this is the town of builders, somewhere there will be the lobby of "Novokrestovskaya".

There is active landscaping going on. In 10 years there will be a beautiful park here, but for now it’s like this ... It’s annoying to see that nature will have to start all over again here, before there was a very green, even slightly wild area behind the stadium, I didn’t think that so little could be saved from it.

The bridge is passed, here is the stadium! Finally, I’ll look at him normally up close, and not from the car window rushing past along the WHSD!

I came closer, I was convinced that the arena really looks terrible up close :) It's always annoying to see when the architects' intention is violated in small details and materials. If anyone does not understand, I'm talking about composite panels, multi-colored double-glazed windows on the stairs and white frames on which they fight. Materials in color and quality correspond to a trading squatter somewhere in Adler, but in no way "to expensive stadium in the galaxy". I suspect that such "cost optimization" on materials is one of the reasons why we had to change the contractor once again already at the finish line of construction.

Compare with one of the later renders of the project, click for a larger size. Composite panels are much smaller, the glass is more transparent, the frames are not visible at all. It seems like little things, but the final impression is greatly influenced.

What about the rest of the stadium? It's hard to say yet, work is still going on at auxiliary facilities, and we see the test, draft functioning of the arena so far. For example, not all entrance groups are ready yet; on May 7, I had to go to the main ones, who are from the Krestovskaya side, go through inspection and control there, and then go to the right entrance to the sector. I had "C", it's near the main stairs. But the fan sectors, the main stand - it's all further, and if you came to the stadium from the side of the Yacht Bridge, then it would be quite inconvenient to go to the seats.

The infrastructure to the security zone is not yet ready for a mass audience - there are few bins, there are queues for toilets, lawns are protected from spectators only by signs "Do not walk on lawns" ignored by all

The farther from the stadium, the better it looks! The most advantageous option is from a quadcopter in the evening, when the distance and lighting mask a careless attitude to materials :)
This picture also shows the main entrance group. There are more than enough “doors”, 20 minutes before the start of the match, there was almost no queue to stand, the inspection and control passed in about three minutes. Check carefully.

The pavilions were left from the old stadium. They built a full-fledged third floor instead of balconies, repainted, changed windows. It looks good, but I didn't like it. As if some details were removed or carelessly restored. I looked at old photos for a long time, but did not understand what exactly was wrong. samiznaetekto , can you see where they cheated? Previously, it was customary to hang large posters on the walls on the sides of the columns, maybe this is the case?

I go up the main stairs to the entrances. There are enough shops, both with souvenirs and with food, and there is a lot of free space for installing new ones. You can place both outside and in the under-tribune rooms, there will be enough hot dogs for everyone!

View towards the metro station "Krestovsky Ostrov". "Route 1" used a lot more people than the new Yacht Bridge. On May 7, there were about 30,000 spectators at the new stadium, which is already more than 20+ who were accommodated at Petrovsky. The new arena is designed for 68,000 football fans. For those who are not in the know, the load on the new arena is gradually being raised in order to work out all the scenarios and procedures.

Entrance near the main staircase. There is a queue here, but you can enter the stadium to the right or left and go to your sector already inside. Popping in on the way to the toilet or for a hot dog. Volunteer stewards told the trick about neighboring entrances, but the fans did not particularly trust them and were in no hurry to disperse. I believed, got inside in a minute. However, this queue also moved quite quickly, they only check tickets at the door. The doors themselves are uncomfortable, not automatic sliding, but ordinary and without latches.

Field, stands, roof. Somewhere 10 minutes before the start of the match, so the lower sectors have not yet been filled with fans. Spectators were allowed on the second floor only above our sectors, on the contrary, it is still empty.

After the first test match, there was a lot of talk about poor-quality lawn, the heterogeneity of grass color was visible this time as well. I don't know how much it really
in fact, it is critical, but experts write that the field was still ruined, the main reason is the organizational mess, in which it was not clear for a very long time who was responsible for the state of the lawn de jure and de facto. Abnormally cold April (snow and night frosts down to -10 in the second half!) and May also did not add splendor and strength to the grass. Good news that this problem is solved in at least several ways, and you should not worry too much about this. How to be surprised, because the proverb about the "first pancake" is not just popular in Russia. For those who want to know more, I advise an article on Fontanka, you can skip about the suffering of Zenith there, and the problems of the lawn are described in detail - http://www.fontanka.ru/2017/05/10/025/. I also recommend this post lisaivolk about the grass flying from under the feet of the players in different directions (Spoiler - this is absolutely normal) - http://lisaivolk.livejournal.com/250400.html

I really liked the football part of the stadium, when compared with Petrovsky. The most obvious thing is that Petrovsky was not a purely football stadium, there were more Treadmills and other nonsense that alienates spectators from the field. Here, the stands almost hang over the lawn, and you can see the game much better. The second is chairs. It was comfortable to sit, the ass did not get tired. Place! There was enough space for the legs and shoulders, on the “Petrovsky”, in the presence of overall neighbors, it was a problem to sit out until the end of the half.

The roof was opened on May 7th. The bowl of the stadium is well protected from the wind, but cold air penetrates from above, so you need to dress according to the weather with a small margin of insulation, do not count on a closed roof and no wind. On the one hand, it helps, but on the other hand, you sit for an hour and a half with almost no movement, this is not at all the same as walking for an hour and a half.

Places for the press. At first I thought, "What for so many? Why do we have so many journalists and commentators?" And then I remembered about the Confederations Cup and the 2018 World Cup. They will come from all countries!

The game has started, but the fans are still pulling into their seats. 15 minutes after the start they were still arriving. Not calculated with traffic jams or distance from the subway? Circled around the stadium? Or did you just warm up for too long before the match?

During the break, I took myself tea (100r) and a hot dog (200r). The taste is nothing special, the prices are a robbery! But it's a necessary evil mass events. There are plenty of catering points inside the stadium itself, but you still have to stand in line. If hunger is completely overcome, then it is better to go out before the whistle for a break. They accept bank cards for payment, but not everywhere and it is better to check with the sellers. And it’s even better to prepare a cash in advance, since the payment took a long time, and behind you is a line of sufferers, it’s inconvenient.

There are enough toilets for everyone. Both times I came across toilets without water, this is a mess.

Heard complaints about low ceilings - see for yourself. Not five meters, as in stalinkas, but not critically low either. find fault)

I finished watching the game, sad and frozen, I went towards the house. At first, the plan was to shoot the stadium and the surroundings a little more from the new bridge, especially since the sunset light and the backlight turned on ...

But May in St. Petersburg this year is not at all happy with warmth, so I chose to warm up with a quick step towards the house! While walking to the bridge, I noticed all the same problems as on the way to the stadium - the pedestrian routes towards the bridge were not thought out and not marked, so I ran into a bus stop, then a lawn, then a fence. I hope the organizers will take this moment into account for the next game.

Thank you for your attention! I would be glad to hear your questions about the stadium, the bridge and the surroundings, as well as your impressions of the arena, if you also went to the game!

Zenit Football Club takes care of the availability of the arena for all guests and makes every effort to make it as comfortable as possible for the fans.

St. Petersburg Stadium

"St. Petersburg" - a stadium located in the city of the same name. Zenith's home arena.

Short story

In 2006 the winner international competition to the new stadium for St. Petersburg football club"Zenith" was the Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa.

At the end of 2006 on Krestovsky Island in St. Petersburg was demolished football stadium named after Kirov. Construction of a new stadium began in its place.

In 2009, the stadium project was significantly adjusted to take into account the possibility of holding in Russia football championship peace. According to the new project, the area of the stadium premises has increased from 170,000 to 260,000 m², the stadium capacity - from 62,000 to 68,000 seats.

Despite almost annual promises since 2009 to hand over the arena in a year or two, the first official match at the stadium was held on April 22, 2017.

The stadium hosted the final of the Confederations Cup - 2017.

Stadium characteristics
